When teams sit back as Palace did he's arguably our most important player. He's the only one that can really create or do a bit of something out of nothing which is exactly what's needed against organised teams that sit in. I fully expect him to play a big part for us on Sunday when we get something against Villa.

Sure, and he deserves a lot of credit for it. But Maddison is the one that will usually offer that extra bit of craft and creativity to unlock a defence. He's someway off his best but his performance against Palace was a big step in the right direction.

Commentators made the goal sound like a routine tap in, but it was anything but. He could still improve some to get to his levels from earlier in the season, but he's still capable of absolute quality.
Was good the whole game today. His runs in the first half that don’t get picked out because nobody wanted to pass the ball more than 10 yards were excellent. He moves so much off the ball that most don’t see. His goal is class. That’s not an easy finish and his desire to get there won’t get mentioned enough. He played like an old school midfielder today. Taking it deep,going by people,playing clever passes,finding great areas off the ball,making runs and scoring a goal. What more can we ask for??
Helps that today was the first time since November that we've put this starting eleven out.

Like I've said before other managers move their creative player to the wide position to allow them the opportunity to build their performances up and gain confidence.
Pep initially with Foden and still with Grealish, Redknapo did it initially with Modric, Mourinho with Mata at Chavski.

He's not been anywhere near pre-injury form, understandably perhaps but just odd when other players will get slaughtered he seems to catch no criticism whatsoever
He was a large part of the problem. That midfield three let us down big time.
