I assumed that this break was for two Euro qualifiers, but I’ve just read that one is a friendly against Scotland. WTF? That bunch will treat it like the WC final and kick lumps out of the England players.
Well as long as Sakha is playing instead of Maddison, they can do what they want!

Never wanted to see a Gooner called up to the England squad for a game as much as I do right now...

Joe Rodon 7
Had a couple of nervy moments where he needed to be bailed out by his team-mates, but Leeds United loan man stood up well.

Ben Davies (c) 7 - STAR MAN
Felt like he was everywhere at times. Did his job defensively with minimal fuss and showed little fear in getting forward. A really good performance.

Brennan Johnson 6
Pace caused problems, but that killer touch wasn't quite there. Hopefully more to come on Monday.

But it felt false and lucky. We wernt playing the right way, and we knew it was just a matter of time untill it went tits up. It wasn't sustainable.

It feels right this time, in a very very long time
It wasn't as bad as Nono winning his first 3 games 1-0 without seemingly touching the ball and only having 1 or 2 shots. That was scarily bad and still some of our fans started talking like it was a Levy masterstroke to get him.
And then Palace and Chelsea battered us 3-0 and it unravelled.

Can't see that happening now :maddisonshh:

Yep, I can see us having a mare every now and then, but we will thump teams more so than we have for a long time.

Nothing more frustrating for a fan to watch a team lead, and then sit back hoping we can defend a small lead. Ange ball... at this stage , suggests we will not clock off for the sake of it. Trying to run down the clock hasnt worked.

I think it was painfully obvious that a 3-0 walloping was coming. Exactly the same for AVB's 2nd season.
Won 2 games 1-nil. Lost the NLD 1-0. Won another 2 then drew with Chelsea. 4 wins from 5 wasn't bad but it was boring and it didn't feel like we really deserved a lot of those wins.
And then the Spammers absolute battered us 3-0 at the Lane. With ease. AVB, the clipboard manager of the future completely outdone by Fat Sam.

Ramos was probably the worst of the bunch, but even when he was losing the plot we weren't getting hammered like that. We only lost by more than 1 goal once. (2 nil)

So yeah, last season at this stage looked sort of unsustainable, but tbh, I never thought it looked lucky. Not like Nono and AVB
