You know what would sort this out?
A £50million transfer budget and a fairer wage cap...
That way, everyone spends the same...

THEN we'd see who has the best manager/players...

Money IS ALL that talks right now... spend it in disgusting amounts, and you've won.
Be frugal with it (like Tight Jew Levy apparently is) and we'll always be part of the chasing pack.

SPENDING MORE IT ISN'T THE SOLUTION...
Curbing it for everyone is!

Give it 10 years and the stadiums will be empty at this rate.

Perfect example of money being the difference. Manchester City.

Absolute fucking shite without money.

Best team in the country with money.

Yep good post.

Lets just assess our best 20 minutes in matches and the ifs and buts.

8 semi-final losses is call for analysis of some sort.

Backwards no?

Pertinent maybe is whether posters feel if the managers were changed fot the match and they had each other's squads if the outcome would have been different?

yeah. lets analyse a semi final loss in 1993

we have had 2 under Pochettino. They are the ones that matter.
One's under Redknapp dont matter.
One's under Gerry Francis are irrelevant.
Pochettino has taken us to a league cup final and two cup semi finals in his time with us.
that doesnt include 2 top 4 finishes and well positioned for a third, and two decent title challenges.

I agree the squad needs a refresh in terms of players nearing 30, but we aint too far off, and closing all the time.

Lots of people on here and elsewhere saying money wins evrytime, ALL the time.

Can anyone tell me how much money Leicester spent the year they won?
Well, obviously "all the time" is inaccurate. However, "most of the time" would be accurate. It's a statistical fact that teams that can afford the best players more often win the big trophies. Leicester's win was against the run of the statistics and where are they now? They simply weren't a big enough club to stand a chance of building on what they had achieved.

Talking about money, we have plenty ourselves. One of the richest clubs in Europe and the biggest profit margin in England.
It's how you prioritise and spend the stuff that often makes the difference.

Do you like others wish Abramovich had bought us instead of the Chavs?

The sad thing is so many supporters have bought into this, the CL is biggest con of the modern game. We made £52 million this season- that barely gets one decent play in today’s market

£52m is 5 players you pay £200k per week for a year (£10m per year per player). It is not small money.

And when did we issue 1 year contracts? What happens if we don’t qualify the following year? What then? There was a club called Leeds United who structured it’s payroll around future CL revenues and drove itself into oblivion in the process.

That was a fluke. And also a joke.
Leicester were the people’s club. Everybody wanted them to win. Everybody.

Chelsea fans were literally chanting for them “you’re going to win the league.....” when they played them.

Absolute joke. If we ever get in that position every fucker will be trying twice as hard to beat us.

That was an anomaly - especially in terms of money, however in a tribal sport I’ve never seen a title “race” like it.

I agree in principle but unfortunately the same thing will happen as when the maximum wage was there i.e.
Citeh will say to a player, sign for us and we will pay you x amount, then if you make one personal appearance for the sheik we will pay you ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ over the length of your contract.

no we have not gone backwards. played away in the league all year but still in top 4. in terms of cups, we are in the same place with the exception of Europe where we went a stage further then before in a difficult group. so we can compete. in terms of the mentality, that could be going backwards as the longer it goes the worse the feeling will get and this time we lose in 3 cup games that we are leading in.
