Odd.

Surely it makes a mockery of the sentencing if it has to be amended?

No one’s going to take these point deductions seriously if they can be easily overturned/amended.

Yep. It shouldn’t be allowed to be appealed. It’s making a mockery of the league placings.

Just watching SSN and both the PL and Everton are satisfied with todays decision. Everton seem to be arguing that they complied with the process and the PL upheld that they did. This actually is good in terms of the Man City case because the PL have argued they haven’t cooperated at all.

After the change from a 10 point penalty to a 6 point penalty, Everton rise to 15th in the table with 25 points from 17th with 21 points.

A few points change in a penalty makes a big difference at the bottom end of the table

That’s the relegation battle done now.

Luton, Burnley and Sheffield will go down.

Impossible because of the accounting periods and when they are given in to companies house. Unless it’s delayed until the next season after the accounts are given in but then people would complain it’s taking too long.

How about just changing it to clubs aren’t allowed to lose a penny. There is so much money in the English game at the top level, there’s zero excuse for any of the clubs to not turn a profit really.

Oh man, I wish they'd given them back all 10 points.

That would have taken Everton high enough to give Chelsea and West Ham another challenger for the illustrious 10th place and a top half finish :pochshock:

I think that was always going to be the case.

But if Everton's 2nd case (essentially spending more than £105m over a 3 year period), results in a 4 to 6 point penalty, then it might still be Everton on the brink.

That's impossible - the sanctions are supposed to be in the same season as the offence, you need every team to finalise their accounts first.

That is not correct.

The offence is (I think) exceeding the £105m losses over a 3 year period, which means the sanctions can only be in the year (or longer following the offence.

If a club has a year end of 30 June (ie close to end of the season) it has to send accounts to PL by 31 December following (and to companies house before 31 March) so any judgement on the 3 year spend can at the earliest only take place in the spring (ie now) following the end of the 3rd year of losses.

Perhaps due to covid (giving PL the benefit of the doubt) PL has given itself an extra year, so this spring Everton are also being judged on the 2nd breach of the rules for the following years too !

You are agreeing with me

If they do, I think we need to consider hoping for a super league.

I know that’s a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face, but it’s just the reality of the sport.

What good will that do us or anyone.....?

It'll just be PSG v Man C v NuCsatle each year..... With Madrid & Man U as so-called legacy also-rans.

Wanna know what the hold up with Forest is........?

....And Everton's 2nd charge, of course.

The season is virtually 7 months deep now. Get a grip.

(Not overlooking MC & CFC; but that's a different matter.)
