Agree with you on Dier, his passing is shit and he keeps on trying risky passes from the back lots of times. But Royal also offers nothing, both are pretty bad.
You are in big trouble when Eric Dier is the first defender on the team sheet. Especially with an erratic goalkeeper behind him.
