* = assume winning through qualifying rounds

We are in Pot 2, but can still get some difficult opponents from Pot 3 such as Roma or Schalke and even Pot 4 with the likes of Inter or even Celtic, given that the Scots like nothing better than playing the English !

The best group is the one with two best teams and two worst teams. By the way, in the 2017-2018 Champions League the only teams that beat Real Madrid were Tottenham and Juventus, am I wrong?

looking at the rankings, if we have a good CL next season, say the quarters, it's likely we'd climb a few positions because some of the teams above will lose their score from 5 years ago (replace with whatever score they get this year) which in some cases are high scores, which are likely to be replaced by lower ones. We'd lose 15 points from the 13/14 season score drops off, so we'll likely do well if we beat that score next season. That would mean the next year we'd be more comfortable, probably, getting into pot 2, than this year where we've only just managed it.
It seems little at first, but us creeping into pot 2 last night made me so happy.

Just sums up how much we've improved - and to a consistent level. Only Man City have kept in the top 4 this steadily over the last three seasons, which is hilariously overlooked whenever the pundits predicted top 4 teams come out at the start of each season (looking forward to being ignored again in a couple of months).

The short-term-ism of fan desires, fuelled by the media, overlooks this kind of improvement. They can rim Liverpool as much as they want for getting to the final, but I wouldn't even be surprised if they didn't reach the knockout stages next time. They can be erratic - I'm happy for Poch to keep improving bit by bit.

For Liverpoop, I would like to see the following:

Real Madrid (be funny as fuck to see them play again so soon - mental scarring would come out!)
Dortmund or Napoli
Livershit
Inter

Meh, you lost....

We're the only team they didn't beat.
