How typical and predictable an angle is that?
No one at the club have linked us with Benitez, only the 'press/media'... So to try and twist it as if WE'VE been dealt a blow (yet again, to add to the mounting list of fatal blows we've been allegedly dealt down the years) really smacks of an anti-Spurs agenda, no doubt fuelled by the wave of positivity after the Cup Final!

Gloating gooner fucks!

Rafa's 'boring' Napoli managed 77 goals - 2nd most in the league this season and only 3 behind champions Juventus

Sorry, mate but I don't think we can compare a proven European manager with 11 major trophies to his name (including the Champions Leagie and Europa League) to some nothing man who won a few games in the Prem and has been hyped up by the media and fanboys because he sat next someone famous once.

If we care at all about the philosophy of our club we can. I don't care how many goals his serie A side got this season. I've seen his teams in the premiership and I hate his kind of football. As I said, I'm not debating the difference in experience or the qualifications, but I'm personally more excited about the prospect of a young manager with pressing, attacking football ideology that can become our long term manager. I'm not saying that would be Pochettino, but he's definitely more suited for that kind of project than fat man benitez.

Just out of interest - prior to AVB's arrival (and his record at Port) would you have described him as

- attacking manager who plays entertaining football
- tactically astute manager who plays defensive football

AVB is quite odd, he plays pressing/high line football but with the objective of denying the opposition the ball rather than always trying to score, a sort of very unadventurous Barca, I view this as a very negative form of football but others may disagree. Possession football in general when taken to extreames is for me the most negative form of football there is, holding the ball to prevent the opposition trying anything. Although it is very clever tactically.

Look at the state of this thread.

I voted for De Boer.

10% voted Poch. Just shows the majority of us are clueless wankers.

To the 90% :adebaehug:

To the smart arse 10% :avbfu:

I suppose any of De Boer or MP would have been the choice for Levy. Forget LVG or Benetiz, they need money to spend.
MP and FDB both fitted the bill as managers who were not afraid to promote from within; managers who could improve what they have and play decent football. The idea was to get a manager who could provide decent football and have some challenge through austere times financially.
De Boer turned us down as he probably has a better chance of success at Ajax and therefore be offered a job at a club that is 'capable' of winning a title in another league.
I'm sure he will only leave for either Chelsea, Man City or Man U in this league or Barca /Real and maybe Atletico in Spain.
Come to Spurs, fail to do anything in a tough league and he will not. After all, he's already in charge of a team that should/could be winning the title in Holland and will be qualifying for CL every season.

MP however fell out with his former club and saw us as a step up -no disrespect to SAFC intended.

LVG would never have taken our club. He needs to be able to spend, spend, spend. We do not fit in with his ego either. It's okay being a decent coach with the best players of your country, or teams who are shoe ins for the title and CL qualification and have the financial clout to buy to improve. It's a different matter coaching a club to success that has limited funds, hasn't won a tile since 1961, has never won the European cup and has only qualified for the CL once since it's inception.
Ok, he did it with AZ but that was an anomaly. I mean either PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord invariably finish in the top 2 since the Eredivisie's inception. That year not one of them did.

FDB is probably most people's first choice, would take Pochettino as well. Really not sure about Benitez but if we can't get either FDB or Poch would take him.

Someone who controls the players and demands their respect. Secondly someone who specialises in fluent football. That paulinho goal against villa was quite good imo, short passes but with continuous movement. I would have happily taken bielsa a couple of seasons ago, unfortunately we weren't in for him

Pochettino is a Biesla student. Played under him and is a good friend from what I read.
Thats not to say he has the same style of course.

Bit harsh calling him the poor man's AVB, he has done a good job at Southampton where as AVB screwed up the Chelsea job, the fact he has been quite good in England must count for something, added to the fact he likes to play attractive football. FDB still at the top of my list, could live with Benitez, good record and has great experience in England.
His record is far worse than AVB's in England. I think he's average and a lateral move at best, imv. Is that really the name we need to move forward?

Someone link this thread to a senior person at thfc. Given the board's lack of popularity at the moment, I'd hope they would take fan feelings into account before the next appointment.

As much as it pains me to have to state the obvious. but we ain't a top 4 side. We are a top 6 club.
So until Enic bail-out and flog my beloved Tottenham to some guzillianair from far afield (and I pray they do not!) Then this is my reality/expectation for the next 3 seasons. Continuously bouncing around the top 6, flirting
on occasion with 3rd/4th. Ending up with Europa League football. Having some great nights at The Lane in
this comp. Maybe even picking up the trophy once in that 3 years, now it has taken on its new dimension.
This and more importantly for me. Seeing the stability and dignity brought back the The Lane. Along with a
style of football, that we demand. Which would see us distinguish ourselves against our London counterparts
and more!

Currently, and I mean over the next 3 seasons. Can we realistically expect any more?

COYS!!

Just a few numbers

Pochettino's record with Saints - 38% win rate
AVB's record - 55% win rate
Sherwood's record - 50% win rate
Frank dB - 60% win rate (only 33% in Europe with a -19 GD)
Benitez - England only - 59%
- Overall - 51%

I haven't got a clue anymore. For every one, there's pro's and cons, and without a crystal ball, it's impossible to call.
Ultimately I'll be glad just as soon as we've got someone in, from those candidates.
