They made the same mistake as the Spanish after winning the world cup, they were too afraid to make big necessary changes in order to freshen things up and stay ahead. They kept things too similar and safe, and despite so many warnings and hints in the last couple of years, they kept believing that things will sort themselves out eventually and their quality would shine through once they are actually under competitive pressure. But it was just careless and a bit arrogant. They need to reset and rebuild this squad, a lot of older lot need to go and a new style established. But it will take time and wont be easy, just like it hasn't been for the Spanish.
