Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is the first friendly I have managed to see this pre-season. Couple of things stood out for me. The first, Soldado. I was always for given him the benefit of the doubt. His record in Spain allows that. But he looked the same old, same old Soldado I only know I,m afraid. Secondly, Lennon. I,d av got rid long ago. However! I was really impressed with his appetite and more so his movement off the ball, and this narrower role he takes up. He has been Poched I think! Good to see and I hope he proves me wrong, and shows there is a top player inside
that diminutive frame.

On diminutive frames and going back to Soldado. I,d be more than happy to see him return home and replace him
with an 8 million Hernandez from Utd. I think this boy at 26 has something to prove. I think his work ethic would suit Poch's system and his anticipation is sharper than Soldado and he has much quicker feet.

Said it already and it has been poo-pooed. But if the Depay deal is more than just a rumour. He and Hernandez
in. Chadli (Sunderland?) and Bobby Solider (Ath Madrid?) out.

Yep. Soldados shooting is...what's going on with it? Balls sat up perfect for him to strike. He's supposed a volley specialist and he looked like the misfiring terrible contact whiffs from last season.

As for Lennon. He always does this. If his spot is under threat, he shows more effort. Once back in the squad he will coast. His open goal miss was mental.

Agree. Soldado, if he stays, not bothered if he dose'nt, needs to start off flying and what I have seen pre-season, albeit minimal, it dose'nt look like that's gonna happen. As for Lennon. I,m a long way off being a fan. But your point about, when his place is under threat. It will be this season, so maybe we just might see a positive improvement?

Its a problem, and a big one.

But one which I hope our management are not as quick to overlook as some of our fans....people set their stalls out so firmly that they just dont see that he is a poor footballer for this club, and has never been anything but.

Hoped to see a fresh striker too, but sadly its not happening.

I want him to do well, but should we be going into next season so weak up top?

We basically, yet again, are going to start the season with one good striker......and then we wonder why we cant get CL again..

Chelsea and Woolwich didn't exactly have a wealth of talent up front last season...

How would you feel about Hernandez for a cheeky 8 mill. 26. Something to prove. Would suit Poch's high pressing game. I think he would link up well with Ade imo?

I would have liked to see us go for him a few years back and would absolutely take him now.

High energy and the type of poacher who actually meets crosses and can shoot...

Pick yourselves out then lads.

Agree re: Soldado
But not Lennon, if he earns his spot Poch is not obliged to keep playing him, if he starts to "coast" he will be dropped it's not like we lack options in his position.
And he clearly heard the whistle before he received the ball, not sure why the ITV commentator made a big deal out of it too, he more stuck his leg out to stop the ball than shoot.

If Poch does play Lennon extensively as a first teamer, it may pay off early days but long term it's players like Lennon that costs Spurs managers their jobs.

IMO he is the last fig leaf of st Totteringhams failure. We can't change if we keep supplying front lines and right backs with Lennon style lack of ability.

We say it every season. We all see it the potential but he's never going to reach it because he's just another man child who will look back on his career with regret.

He's showing effort now, but why not last season? I don't think Lennon has had some life changing event beyond a passing interest in yet another new manager and he'll lose interest once the monotony and grind of a long season kicks in.

He needs to be sold. He for me is the last of a bunch of players who have been at the core of soft spurs.

We need to put Soldado, ade and Kane on the right foot this season. We need to put them out of the misery of Lennons crossing and through balls.

what a wanky thing to say

I care most about finishing above Woolwich. It's not just the obvious failings like comparing Lennons impact vs Walcott.

I've seen managers mugged by Lennon for years. Dos santos rotted, Lamela rotted, strikers having droughts and our wide open flanks can all be traced back to Lennon. It's not just that he can't link up with strikers or strike up a partnership with walker or naughton.

Lennon is fools gold. All that glitters is not gold.

Agreed, Lennon is resonable player but he's not the type of player who will move us into top 4 especially when competing with Mourinho, Wenger, Van Gaal type managers who will use the best tactical systems, we need clever players like Eriksen, Lamela to operate it.

I really like the look of what Poch wants to do judging by pre-season far better than the no tactics of Sherwood or the nonsense of AVB. Poch himself said that our sqaud is to big and we must sell, we could sell/loan 5-10 players and we would still have a good sized team, I say sell get the cash in and buy a few outstanding players, Depay and Bony spring to mind. A smaller higher quality sqaud is better than a bloated lower quality squad.
