People complaining about the form of our forwards are missing the wood for the trees. The sluggish, cautious way we move the ball means they barely get any chances that don’t come from set pieces or mistakes by the opponent.
Son’s game is about getting behind the opponent and finishing clinically. It’s not about playing intricate stuff in front of the opposing defence. The one time in the last few weeks that he got through on goal, against West Ham, he finished clinically. The way we use the ball is what’s making all our attacking players look bad. We are not creating the same counter attacking chances that we were last season because we never get the ball forward quickly or with any quality.
