There’s no reason why not other than things going on behind the scenes that we are not seeing! But this season compared to others we’re as strong as we’ve ever been less Walker, Dembele we are starting the season a lot stronger than previous seasons.
On paper a fully fit squad might look stronger, but paper doesn’t play football if you know what mean?

3 senior players are running out their contracts or leaving in the next week, either option isn’t good, one we need them playing, two it will take 150m to replace them, and we don’t spend 150m.....😲

One fullback is completely inexperienced the other was sent home from preseason to find another club🙄

The one thing we did need was a defensive midfielder, we didn’t get one, of the two we do have, one is crippled, the other sits on the bench🤔

Our transfer policy is coming back to bite us in the arse🤪

Which after 5 years, shows a distinct lack of ambition. Perhaps that is the reason the team that Poch built isn't as good as many think.

A lack of ambition or harsh reality when you consider that we are the 6th biggest club financially and have done amazingly well to muscle ourselves above the likes of Chelsea, Woolwich & Man U in the eyes of most neutrals?

For me the longer we stay in the top 4 places the more chance we have of organically growing into what we strive to be which is a title challenger. We haven't got a large fan base, an owner that pumps his own money into it like it's a toy and I remember reading that the wages we pay are in and around the same as what Everton fork out.

Clearly I would love to see us win the league but the two teams above us last season recorded the 2nd & 3rd best points totals in Premier League history I believe. Realistically it would take a massive calamity from both for us to get our noses ahead. If offered to me right now, top 4 is the sensible choice to make so we can continue to grow.

It's not as good as many think.
Which is why it's a fucking miracle he's achieved champions league football 4 years running and got us to the final last season.

So how do people feel about this then?
You know, those of you that agree with every word he says.......how will you spin this to mean that we should grateful for top 4 this year and can’t win any trophies because of Man City?

No spin needed.
He's a young and ambitious manager who wants to win trophies. Trophies are the benchmark of any clubs success, surely.

A miracle?
Kane
Dele
Eriksen
Lloris
Jan
Toby
Son
Walker (you claimed was world class)
Rose (you said was so good we should keep at all costs)
And the best manager on the planet.

Miracles you say?

No John, what Ranieri achieved with Danny Drinkwater in midfield and Wes Morgan at CB was a miracle.
You seem to forget that in all this talk of squad depth, we couldn’t catch a mid table Leicester side to win the PL when all our rivals had an off season at the same time.

We shit the bed John. We threw away a 13pt lead on Woolwich and finished behind them.
We lost 5-1 to a relegated team.

That was the best team in 30 years John.. and bar Walker and Dembele ( the latter you wanted replaced and upgraded) they are all still here.

Then you must think he’s a deluded twat if 4th is miraculous.
Surely you should be calling him out for talking shit he can’t possibly deliver?
Of course he's not. He's said on numerous occasions he wants to win major titles with Spurs.
If he doesn't think he's gonna get the backing to help him achieve it, he'll move on.
If Levy thinks he's not fulfilling whatever his requirements are, or sees the fanbase turning, he'll be fired.

I'm starting to think you actually relish in our failures just so you have more ammunition to come on here and demean and belittle Poch's achievments.

A little smugness inside you every time we lose.

It's really disappointing to see tbh

We ain’t competing with City and Liverpool until we get their squad strength irrespective of manager. That’s cost huge sums potentially.

It's not how much you spend, it's how you spend/manage it.

Football is littered with teams that spent vast sums of money trying to win titles and trophies yet couldn't.

You expected a 99% landslide which you would have got in the summer of 2018

Far from celebrating your perceived victory in the fact that so far 12 more people agree with you, ask yourself what the results might be if this form continues into January...

Because it’s not just three games is it....it’s an entire calendar year.
Our last good PL game was probably at Goodison last December.

Again.....for the 5th time.

Do you think Klopp or Pep would have this squad playing this poor?
Yes or no.

The true answer is ‘perhaps’ those 2 might. But even then it’s debatable. For Klopps 1st 3 seasons with Pool his teams were far from brilliant. He had a very strong squad yet his results werent better than Rodgers. Granted he and Pep are brilliant managers, lets agree the best in the Premier but they have been made to look ordinary without superstars.
For Klopp the signings of Salah, VVD and the keeper was literally game changing. Added to that their FBs are so much better than what we have.
Our squad needs investment & improvement.

Yes but spending counts, City have spent over a billion. I don’t think we have a bad recruitment policy, when we push the boat we get Ndombele and Lo Celso who in time will show great value.

Reality is this is the most competitive league and the most competitive period in history and money so the driving factor.

I agree that spending like a drunken sailor Man United style doesn’t work but with a good manager and clear recruitment it is the difference.

Agree, they are symbiotic. Sadly we currently have neither.

Liverpool got to City's level by spending wisely and sensibly. They realised they had a world class manager and as soon as that penny dropped, they changed their transfer strategy and started really backing him.

Us, on the other handed, waited until this Summer before panicking and finally spending some proper money, arguably 3 years too late.
