It was obviously more change of shape and the goal changing the momentum as opposed to Eriksen coming on. That much was obvious.

I think both Eriksen and Vertonghen are behind on their fitness levels personally, which is why both didn't start against Villa and why Eriksen plodded along yesterday.

The idea that we could have effectively playing rope-a-dope with a newly promoted team for 70 mins is a bit troubling tho'.

CE: Possibly the same, but performance-wise I think it's fair to say there's more at play.

At the moment I make that a solid 4-5 backup XI players actively playing their part in first XI games. Agreed that we need to be wary of the diamond but at the moment Poch really is chopping and changing our attacking options based on injuries, fitness or suspension.

How is it moaning for moaning sake when the club hasn’t won a trophy for 11 years when it has one of its best sides in that time for a large part of time? How is moaning for moaning sake when people ( not even me) want to critique our tactical set up ( when everyone can see there is issues currently). Clearly for you it’s just blind support regardless of the circumstance.

And if you think supporter feedback doesn’t account for anything then you are a compete fool. There is a reason why why the likes of Benitez and Mourhino could never been a Tottenham manager - the supporters couldn’t accept the football. You know this full well so don’t try to pretend there isn’t existing levels and standards at play.


Look at AVB - he was getting booed 45 minutes into his reign because the football was dour. Redknapp got the same in the Wolves and Sunderland games because the football wasn’t to the required standard. Pochettino would be hammered across the online forums if the football was dull over the next 10 games . That’s wholly unacceptable to the supporter base and yet when the club goes on its longest silverware drought since the 30s despite having one of the leagues best sides its perfectly fine.

Nothing is said whilst anything to close any semblance of discussion as to why this and if our manager is responsible for that is attacked.

It’s an absolute scandal what he has been able to get away with the FA Cup - it’s says all about the modern state of the supporter base when a Tottenham manager can take such a derisory attitude towards the FA cup and call winning it just meaningless ego and nothing is said. There should absolutely be push back against this and if you think it doesn’t work then why did Levy pretty much admit in his end of season notes after AVB that he would only appoint a manager that matches of playing style traditions going forward?

The supporters have a major say in what is and what isn’t acceptable - it’s just a shame they have become so passive and so accepting of revenue streams replacing silverware. The solution is simple - the first step is to become comfortable with questioning the clubs employees - there shouldn’t be any attempts to shut down that dialogue to extent where even thread titles have to be altered to placate the overly weak and sensitive posters on here.
