I see a 3 at the back with Wimmer there, same set up as ArseANAL away.

11/2/2012 - we rolled Newcastle 5-0 & then the season went to Rat Shit. Let's hope for any win and this season not going the same way.

That 2011/12 team was quality, but I prefer where we are now. Seems a lot more robust. But It's a real shame that 2011/12 squad broke up so quickly under that AVB prick.

Saturday, If our tactics keep Liverpool locked out of our box as much as possible and have then playing high up the pitch, they won't hurt us. But we can hurt them. The major issue I see is it's Anfield. Not a place we do well at over our entire history. A win will feel that bit more Special due to that, sadly a 3-2 loss would be no surprise....0-0 maybe ? Ahh fuck knows, just turn up Spurs and give it everything. Don't repeat that United performance !

I think that team was always bound to disintegrate quickly regardless. Modric was always going to leave for Spain, Van der Vaart's legs were almost gone and Adebayor is... well. It was a fantastic team to watch but there wasn't much future in it beyond perhaps, if we had been lucky, a season more.

That doesn't mean that AVB wasn't a prick though.

We need to be absolutely and utterly focused. We've turned up there a few times and played very, very well only to be undone by individual mistakes.

A couple of seasons ago a Vertonghen brace put us 2-1 up only for Walker to lose his mind, and in Poch's first season we were 1-0 up and cruising when Lloris unfortunately made one of his big game howlers.

This can't happen this time. If we're 100% at it, don't make any obvious individual mistakes, then I think we can win.

Just decided this minute, must win. We cant allow Chelsea to win the PL by March (Chelsea must have a poor run at some point-I've prayed to the football gods every night). We must keep going - Liverpool will turn up for this, could be a turning point for them and as its us, will give it 100%. They were fortunate against Chelsea and got the draw which shows, they can give it some when they want to. Cant see us not winning and hopefully get all 3 points.
Alli -Kane give em hell.

:coys:

I know we don't do this, but we see any mid-lower table side play with a low-block against liverpool and win. Won't be surprised if we win easily there, but i'm always prepared to see a shocking performance (ie.: vs United). You adapt your feelings throughout the years to disappointment and celebrate the good moments intensely

I'm happy to give Sissoko a go....if the fans had our way, Bale and Kane would be probably be playing for Southend by now.

Walker and Rose should have been sold to Oldham.....in fact I'll drive them there myself...

VDV.....pointless and past it

Modric what does he do?

Lamela take out back and shoot

However, Coubally is the next Messi and Schniderlin is worth 40M and better than Dembele

Wanyama was pointless because we have Dier (who was total shit and should be sold to Wrexham)

Ahhh the fans
Irrespective of any of your comments Sammy, on the day Sissoko is sold by the club - my guess is that you, I and every other Spurs fan will breathe a collective sigh of relief and we will all reflect on the waste of transfer funds. I'm also prepared to bet that he doesn't make either a profit or into the Spurs hall of fame.

The only positive thing about Sissoko is that he adds a degree of credibility to the squad. So far he has not done anywhere near enough to justify starting, but a squad / bench place I think is reasonable, he has affected some games positively from the bench.

Given the frankly very weird Lamela situation we need to be a little bit pleased that Sissoko adds something, however limited. I rate Lamela but I now think this whole situation is a farce in an Adebayor way. To see he is still out just angers me. From all suggestions no bugger can find anything wrong with him or his hip, if that's true, then ahead of our hardest away game he should have been breaking his neck to get back into the squad ( caveat being if he is truly injured then my point is harsh ):lamelashock:

I won't be relieved if he doesn't make it and we wasted 30M.
I'll be disappointed.
I've been wrong about every player in my post at some point. This regime has given me hope that anyone can come good, so here's hoping.

I think Sissoko has been fine when called upon. I'm not into waiting for every misplaced pass to sound the horns about what a big waste of money a player is.

I did that for 2 years with Lamela and ended up looking the cunt.
Gladly might I add, cos it means we got a player in the end.

After this game we haven't got another team in the top 6 (as it is now) until the last 2 homes games.

Of course we can't take it for granted, but we're more than capable of maintaining our position.

You know that Sunderland aren't in the Top 6 (and aren't likely to be any time soon!)
I get that you're not taking anything for granted, I don't see any difference in the perceived notion that we can BEAT lower position teams, as expecting us to do badly against a team in the Top 6.

We've beaten Chelsea and Man City (both seemingly 'unbeatable' at the time we played them) ...and yet have dropped points at Sunderland, Bournemouth and Leicester... all of whom (this season) are arguably 'beatable' teams!

Go figure...?

Last season was crazy in terms of who won it... the fallout from that is that THIS season, you have teams like Hull believing that miracles DO hapoen, and performing incredibly against teams they would otherwise get a sound beating from... and yet they're in the bottom three!!

On our day we can fail to beat anyone!

I was getting hugely concerned that all the teams around us were winning every single game seemingly every week and there was no way we could keep that pace up, but fortunately everyone seems to be capitulating and having a rough patch at the same time.

Not sure about this one. Liverpool have been horrific lately but they always seem to step it up a gear against us. No idea why. We're not really rivals, other than both competing at the upper end of the table, are we?

I don't want him to fail, far from it. I want him to prove everyone wrong, but the evidence so far has been fairly damning. Even Adebayor put a shift in when he started, and then fell into his standard pattern. Sissoko is simply showing that the Newcastle fans were right in their assessment of him.
He's going to have to pull up some trees to show he was worth the money.
Lamela has certainly improved his game since his indifferent start but if we are all honest, he still hasn't hit the heights we all hoped for - and now we praise him for his work ethic and for closing people down, not the free scoring, gifted playmaker we were led to expect we were getting. I doubt we could sell him for what we paid for him. I think the most telling thing about him is that the team hasn't suffered from his absence, like we did with Toby's.
To close off on Sissoko, for 30 million I would have expected a regular starting, first name on the teamsheet player. Not a sub for league cup games

Well that would mean dropping one of Wanyama, Dembele or Alli really. Even then we have Dier in front of him when our back line is fully fit.

30M or not, you earn your place in this squad, and thats a good thing.

Poch has already stated he´s been underwhelmed, and thats probably what he needed to hear out loud.

The fact Poch still uses him speaks volumes to me, about his work in training, and his contribution in games.
Poch wont use anyone otherwise, price tags or not.

Its his first season, and you dont settle into a team that quickly playing cup games once a month. It will take time.

Oh, and Toon fans.....didnt they think Shearer was a good manager? Fuck them, the whole squad was crap

Really need to mix up out tactics I feel for this, playing out from the back against arguably the most aggressive pressing team in the prem would be playing into their hands.

Like us to mix it up, bit of counter attacking, long balls etc. Liverpool struggle against quick deep counters.

Something really odd about the whole Sissoko situation. I can't imagine Poch banging on Levy's door to sign him, and Levy is too shrewd to burn 30 million on someone with his background. We hear stories about agents and investors running the game, above the heads of even the owners - this kind of adds fuel to that speculation.

They did... for an entire 90 minutes on the 4th January 2017!!

Fortunately for us, that coincided with when we played them...
Unfortunately for us, that's as bad as it's gonna get for them I fear! A clear run from here on in!

I wouldn't rule out '3rd Party Ownership' either...
It's Tevez all over again, but without the quality!

It could be that 'we' didn't really spend 30 mill and got it back in some form. The Mike Ashley/Spurs connection has always intrigued me. Anyway, apologies from diverting from the topic of the scouse twat ladders.

I think it's just that Ashley (and Derek Llambias) are both Spurs fans... nothing more.

I know someone who worked in one of Ashley/Llambias' Casinos in London... said they were both a pair of pricks!!
So no great shocks there then, eh? Hardly ITK... more like ITS (I Thought So)
