I think his speed isnt that big of an issue when he has Walker and Jan alongside him. Plus he has experience and positioning skills which he uses to compensate.
He's made some great last ditch tackles, great for defending corners, is aggressive and strong.

Personally, I dont think any forwards look and Dier and say "oh shit, dont want to get into a collision with that"
Not yet, at any rate. I think Dier is the future, and he's got the pieces to be a fucking monster of a centre back. But Fazio has a lot of big game experience, and against Chelsea in particular, has taken the worst Costa can dish out, and given more back. And not gotten caught for it.

Fazio isn't perfect, but if you want a large bastard of a centre back, but want someone who isn't a subhuman ogre like John Terry, I think Fazio's a pretty great choice.

I'd try Lamela-Dembèlè-Eriksen for a while as the three behind Kane. I think Chadli has lost just about everything since his personal tragedy and once he bounces back he can take Lamela's spot. Fazio and Dier should compete, form will decide. Stambouli needs games to give Mason and/or Nabil some rest. At some point we are going to have to give Ade a game too. Can't do worse than Bobby is at the moment.

Couldnt agree more

I'm actually really looking forward to the Swansea match, to see how Poch gets the boys to respond to what must have been a crushing week. I haven't any hope for the rest of the season but it'll be interesting to see who really wants to wear the shirt and play for Poch.

Mate we were one mis hit with a keeper acting like a cat that just had its tail trodden on, and a missed penalty that happened to come straight back Kane, away from an implosion here that would have made Hiroshima look like a firework.

Dont let the 2-2 fool you.

That was terrible. An awful, awful show.

I know it was a terrible show against a team who have nothing left to play for but beat us, we have a load of fixtures coming up and I am pretty sure your first team is the same as what Poch thinking, he is right to play Dier against speed merchants though, dembele had bad game and it cracked from there really

But see I dont get this sentiment.

You've just talked yourself out of ever criticising a line up, formation or sub, because the manager knows best.

Of course he does. Of course Poch knows more than me.

Will I ever condone bringing on Paulinho to see out a game though when we need someone like Stambouli to come on? No....fuck no. Never.

yea pretty much, imo regular tossers who strongly and regularly criticise professional football managers selections are idiots

i wouldn't be surprised if poch was being pressured or urged to try and make a player of paulinho, levy does have previous for this sort of thing

So you have agreed with every sub, line up and formation of every Spurs manager in every game you have ever watched.

You didnt strike me as an uber happy clapper mate to be fair.

You cant blame the chairman when Poch picks a player you would rather not see on the pitch. Blame the manager....that doenst make you an idiot because Poch is professional.

Its what makes football what it is....when fans sing a benched players name, or vent their frustration and sing "you dont know what your doing" at their own managers. They are not idiots....they can simply see that some things are not working, and bringing on a shit player wont change that.

Ive calmed down from the nasty stress that was furiously building up in me today, caused by our beloved Spurs. The 2-2 helped. But, we all know that was a shit result really, and the worst game of the season performance wise.

Whats up with the tinkering?

For me it should be, when fit:

.......................................Lloris

Walker.....................Fazio............Jan...................Rose

.......................Bentaleb................Mason

.....................................Dembele

............Chadli..................................Eriksen

...................................Kane

It worked very well, with Lamela in there, but Chadli is the better player.
Regarding Rose and Mason, we have Davies and Stambouli who should be breathing down their necks, and introduced the moment the other two start costing the team.
Mason has been poor for the last few games....yet because Stambouli has been exiled for no reason, we are not even in a position where he can slip straight in.

Why has Poch suddenly dismantled everything to give Townsend his place back out of the blue?
Lamela and Townsend together is a no go.

A Plan B, for me would be to use some wing play and two up top. A classic 442.

.......................................Lloris

Walker.....................Fazio............Jan...................Rose

Lamela................Bentaleb........Mason.................Chadli

....................................Soldado
.................................................Kane

Im not sure whats going on at the minute, but now is really not the time for experimenting.

Of course there will be variations of all sorts, but IMO we need a fixed 11, and an actual game changing back up plan for mid game, that is not based on guess work and a mish mash of players doing whatever they want.

Thoughts???

P.S, any hysterics about this meaning I want Poch out you need'nt bother joining the thread.
This is our best lineup by far, play this at Wembley and I think we can do Chavs COYS

Even with the bad performance we still had almost twice as many shots/possesion as the hammers, as Mensa Mensa said nowhere near the west brom game.

Lloris
Walker - Fazio - Vertonghen - Rose
Bentaleb - Mason
Lamela - Eriksen - Chadli
Kane

We both say the exact same team. I get 1 agree, 1 like and 1 disagree.

You get 4 agrees. The forum summed up in a nutshell. It's who says what that matters, not what they say, disappointing really.

"I think idea A! Well, you're a cunt so it's a stupid idea. Well, i think idea A too! Well, that's a brilliant idea, why did no one mention it" :nawty:

What it means is that 75% of people prefer Totti Totti 's team to yours. Seeing that it was the same team, that must tell you something.

I like Totti's team, as when those players are on form and 'click', then the world better watch out!! There are a few that can be interchanged (I'm thinking Rose/Mason/Fazio/Lamela) which wouldn't mess up the formation too much. We need to take into account the relative youthfulness of much of the team and the fact that they have only had this season to get used to a new coach, a new system and each other. If we can keep the core of the team together for another season (ie tell Madrid, Man C and all those other super-rich clubs to keep their mucky paws of our key players), then maybe, just maybe, we can put together a genuine bid for a top three finish next year. Here's hoping!

My main issue with Totti's line up, is that when we were playing it, things did seem to tick, but there were always longs spells of the matches where we really looked void of ideas and a bit toothless going forward.

For me, Lamela should be sacrificed and we should play a version of the games we played v Sheff Utd, WBA and Woolwich, with Chadli coming into the set up.

An in form Dembele is a much, much better player than Lamela, and really offered us some muscle going forward, and more balance in central midfield.

I honestly think he suffered today due to the two headless chickens either side of him, and I dont think he should have been taken off. Especially not for Eriksen, who also had to suffer the other two and looked a loss.

Chadli for Townsend should have been the half time sub IMO, and possibly Mason off for Stambouli a little later, leaving the option for Eriksen or Soldado to come in later.

Its a concern when the manager's changes are rarely improving the situation.

Whatever starting 11 we play there will be dissenters & supporters. That's the nature of being fans. I enjoyed today's game - we got a point with the last kick of the match when we hadn't even woken up til about 70 minutes. We were very shabby at times though & made them lot look better than they are. The great thing is we never say die any more. And if every player in the match day squad has that attitude then I'm ok with that. We can start judging properly when Poch has the players he wants in the system he prefers. I think we got the right man to make those important calls
