The Trouble At Spurs Is…

I have decided to take a controversial view but please bear with me for a minute. There is a rot that has set in; I began to see this set in more so after our fabled Champions League exploits.

I was at The Lane yesterday Block 35 near the front, the game starts and people all around me sit down. It was like they were expecting a movie to start, all that was missing was the popcorn.

The ooh’s and the ahh’s begin and then moans and the groans begin to gain more volume and remained for most of the game. It was only in the last 10-15 minutes of the game that the majority of people thought I better get behind the team.

Then the I might as well takes some pictures, video footage and the obligatory selfies lot decide to keep themselves entertained as well as should I have a pie or a hot dog? brigade decided to join in.

In the mean time the away supporters are supporting their team and OUT SINGING the home supporters. The atmosphere at The Lane was so bad that at one point I thought I saw tumble weeds rolling across the pitch.

Some of the poor buggers in the South Lower and The Shelf tried to get the atmosphere going only to get their life force drained out of them. The rest of the East Stand, West Stand and North Stand might as well of not been there. The away supporters had plenty of empty seats but still managed to get behind their team.

Now if any of you have been to an #1882 night, you will know what I am getting at. The atmosphere at the Newcastle and Stoke game was a disgrace and an embarrassment. Not to mention the ever increasing sight of empty seats. We are stronger together! During the Newcastle game when the day should have been about remembering the legendary Bill Nicholson, I broke up a fight between fellow Spurs supporters over someone making a comment about Ebola. What that has to do with football is beyond me. For those 90 + minutes we should be united.

White Hart Lane should be a fortress where away teams and supporters should be a fearful and expect an intimidating experience, not in a violent or aggressive manner but in terms of atmosphere. When Hoddle was in charge he asked the home supporters to be the twelfth man against Chelsea. To any of you that were there that night, you will remember the impact we made!

So the trouble at Spurs is the home supporters! Not ENIC or Levy but perhaps Baldini. We do a better job of killing off our beloved Spurs than any other club or away supporters can. We should be ashamed! The Spurs supporters that go to away games must look down on us. If you can’t be bothered to get behind the team don’t go. Stay at home or go to the pub and moan to your hearts content and allow people who want to watch / support Spurs and have a great day out whatever the result may be attend.

In recent times the best games I have been to have been watching the U21’s Spurs v Woolwich and Spurs v Asteras. Those nights I will always cherish because it shows what can be achieved if you only dare to believe. God Bless the #1882 movement.

So in short I would like more like minded people to attend games at White Hart Lane! Remember “AUDERE EST FACERE”. Hopefully I will see more of you at the Partizan game and at White Hart Lane in the future. You never know we might be able to create Fortress WHL together. #COYS

My controversial opinion at least has stats to back it up :adegrin::adegrin:

Since my beloved Pavlyuchenko left, we let slip our 3rd place position and have since been unable to replicate that kind of form:
Friedel
Walker - Kaboul - King - BAE

Parker
Modric - Van Der Vaart
Lennon-------------------------Bale
Adebayor
Subs: Pavlyuchenko, Cudicini, Sandro, Dawson, Huddlestone, Bassong, Defoe
  • Pav's departure made Bale and Modric want to leave and King to retire.
  • It turned BAE into a racist and led to Lennon to lose what bit of form he was having.
  • Ade's form was only really good when he was defending his position from Roman, who was always looking hawkishly on.
  • Van Der Vaart's marriage went down the drain as Roman was unable to keep Sylvie happy as they used to go shopping for terrible clothes together after matchday.
  • Kaboul decided that he would invest of all of his time, effort and mind into running a kebab shop, only Pav had spoken against this.
  • Walker got sad as he would never be able to ride in Roman's super flash white Lamborghini (like a boy unable to enjoy his favourite toy).
  • Parker, well he never recovered after Roman's departure, he just started spinning in circles, desperately trying to find HIS Russian.
  • Cudicini decided he was going to have to pursue a career in Hollywood Pornography as he would no longer be able to watch Pav's Russian Pornos whilst they sat on the bench.
  • Sandro lost the one guy who would bluntly tell him when his hair was looking shit, no one wanted to pass to Sandro after that and his form evaporated.
  • Dawson..... he didn't score as much after Pav left as celebrations became a lot less fun.
  • Huddlestone lost is practice buddy and lost his goalscoring form, as seen by the 'Huddlefro'.
  • Bassong had no one to teach African dance to at Spurs anymore. To find someone with the same kind of social skills as Pav he had to find a load of inbreds in Norfolk (Norwich).
  • Defoe was no longer able to sleep with Pav's ex-pornstar wife and pined to leave to find new playing fields.
The only thing that wasn't Pav's fault was the Friedel still would have gotten old, but regardless, PAV WAS THE GLUE.

With Pav our team had one player who everyone could look at and say, yeah I'm better than him. But Pav still came on and was capable, this fear of Pav outshining each of our players forced them to play better.

The atmosphere was quite good for being 2-0 down to Stoke yesterday. Sure there were times it was silent - but that occurs at every match. And to give Stoke ANY credit for their appalling fans yesterday is a joke. They were 2-0 up at White Hart Lane and barely sang a song. Same with Newcastle when they came, previous years those two have been one of the best to come to us. (the 2009(?) game Vs. Stoke when they scored last minute and the 2008 Newcastle 4-1 spring to mind). If you think Stoke were so loud and we weren't get your ears tested sharpish.

Get off your high horse, 1882 is twenty blokes yelling shit songs. That isn't proper atmosphere. It's cringey as fuck and reminds me of Non League supporters. Enjoy yourselves but don't think because attend a game it changes anything - the atmopshere has still been fucking shocking at the Europa League games this year.

I've been to every away game this season, the only home games I haven't been to are QPR and Southampton (won both, maybe i'm the one who's cursing us). It doesn't matter what team you follow EVERYONE knows home support is worse than away support. I don't look down on home fans. At all. I'm not suprised the atmosphere is shit at The Lane nowadays. With the performance on the pitch, the players, the people who run the club, the whole "Y" word shit, the cost...blah blah blah.

In recent times the best games I have been to have been watching the U21’s Spurs v Woolwich and Spurs v Asteras. Those nights I will always cherish because it shows what can be achieved if you only dare to believe. God Bless the #1882 movement.

You enjoy those nights then. But if you have ever been to a Spurs match when there's been a decent atmosphere you'd cringe at your own comments.

Imagine 1882 turning up to a game in the 70s or 80s and claiming to be the ones solely responsible for the atmosphere. You'd get glassed, darted and spat on within about the same time it takes Adebayor to befriend the Newcastle team.

Why is it our job to put the ball in the fucking net and keep it out of ours? Are we professionals getting paid £50K a week to do it?

This sort of view is an enabler to our squads weak mentality. They are the shits who lose the game not the fans. Lets stop making excuses about the size or noise at the Lane and play some fucking football

Fans react to what they see on the pitch , we are more THFC than any player or any owner. If we're not happy we have every right to moan as we pay through the nose for anything THFC related.

  • Van Der Vaart's marriage went down the drain as Roman was unable to keep Sylvie happy as they used to go shopping for terrible clothes together after matchday.
In bits here, brilliant....

What do you expect when the team on the pitch doesn't even care? They paid big money to see good football and at least some desire to win. They didn't see either of it. This is not 1 time but most of the time this season.

It's not entirely the fans fault. But you can't tell me that fans don't make at least some difference both by geeing up our own team and intimidating the opposition. Several away managers and players have now openly stated that they know that our crowd turns easily.

Unfortunately as each bad result comes, the desperation sets in and, whereas in the past conceding a goal would prompt a roar of support to get back into it. In the last few years it merely confirms our expectations that we are about to lose again. So it goes quiet or more moany.

At the Everton game (and I'm going so I can at least do my bit) we should be doing our best to really really get behind the team but also to put pressure on their players. Boo the fuck out if them any time they even so much as dare to touch the ball.

Their keeper should be given (acceptable) stick from behind the goal to put him off his game.

I know. This will never happen. Maybe if the stadium wasn't mostly full of day trippers and jaded moaning old timers and their families we'd stand a chance. With any luck, the slightly later kick off time means people will be a little more awake .

This thread is utter shite, just like our footballers yesterday, to re-iterate, I too was in the East stand, so I shouldn't have bothered turning up? Damn right I shouldn't, then I wouldn't have wasted£100 watching such a shockingly bad display, fuck me, we'd get destroyed in the championship playing like that.
It is not our fault, we are not buying/selling, training, PLAYING.

I was there yesterday Park Lane end and Begovic was copping plenty! I'm not buying this at all.

For the first 5 minutes the place was buzzing then Kaboul and Naughton make Bojan look like Messi again. 1 down. Crowd was as expected down again for about 10-15 mins. But I'd say for a side that has lost 60% of their home games before yesterday the crowd response between the 1st and 2nd goal was pretty good. 2nd goal goes in and yes we turned on them a bit. But fuck me 2nil down at home to Stoke 18 months after being 1 point off being top 4. I can see why!

I do get where you are coming from however when as fans do we say enough is enough? i think we are just all fed up of false dawns and the managerial merry go round. Dont get me wrong ive never booed at a match at our own players, but when you see shit like that yesterday how is that meant to inspire you to get behind players who look like they could not give a fuck?
the fans have always been there through thick and thin backing the club they love signing there hearts out but now its time in my eyes for the PLAYERS to stand up and be counted

When I see Younes Kaboul get beaten in the air by a United youth reject time and time again yet act like a hard cunt sticking up for Rose am I meant to chant for him? How about winning a fucking contest or lifting your team! The big bastard is the softest CB we have. Built like Tarzan plays like Jane. I get Benteke rag dolling him like a bitch but Mame Diouf!

Home supporters react the same up and down the country, we are no different. Good performances on the pitch, the crowd will react positive - crap performance, negative. Its a gladiatorial entertainment at the end of the day and crowd respond to what they see. If you are a team playing well then anticipation will prompt a warm supportive crowd. At the moment its not happening. At Tottenham, My experience, it has always been like this and its no different now. Bits I read on hear has not changed my opinion. The team and supporters seem to need a spark, a reason, a glory night to get the place buzzing.
I have to add the away support is totally different than at home. Maybe Tottenham should get that same group to occupy one end of the ground?
