Forced to agree with those being a little negative about the result, in so much as people shouldn't over egg the outcome. Fact is that the football in the first half was so half hearted that my mate and I, for the first time ever, actually debated about leaving after half time. Ultimately we didn't because it just didn't feel right to ever do that, but that was the sheer frustration at witnessing more turgid football that totally lacked any passion from the players.
Obviously the second half was distinctly better and very quickly washed away any frustration, but I couldn't help but feel that it was Adebayor again who was working his socks off and bailing us out somewhat, with Eriksen the only other player who seemed to care. The others still didn't seem to have the passion and I fear that this was a tie that should've been put to bed a lot sooner. These guys are foirth in the Ukranian league, hardly a CL quality side so, on the evidence of the two legs, we should've been able to win the tie much more easily, and without having to rely on red cards. Still, I was relieved to seem us playing as more of a team in the second half, rather than as individuals - as this has been one of my biggest concerns in recent games.
Let's hope this is the start of a proper team unity turnaround and not just papering over the cracks.
