Bench v Vitesse Arnhem tonight is 100% Academy trained footballers.
Austin, White, John, Walcott, Clarke, Cesay, Matthew Craig, Michael Craig, Lyons-Foster, Markanday.

No back up plan other than kids for an away game with a very rusty side was not good, half an hour for any of the experienced players from the bench wouldn't have had a big effect on Sunday and at least would have given us better options after going behind. The starting X1 should have been able to play a lot better.
And I'd have brought on both White and Markanday before 75 mins.
We could have had Kane and Son on bench to bring on - but in ,long term all we get is our top players too tired after Christmas. We have needed another striker for years - but Poch chose Janssen but refused to play him much before loaning him out and discarding him, followed by Llorente who was not mobile enough due to age but filled the hole for about 2 seasons whilst on high wages and was it £7m transfer fee ?. We seemed to have decided that Son can be a back up for Kane - which he can be but not when we also need a top class left wing/striker as well, and Moura is not a striker substitute and really not a great RW either, One of a number of holes in the squad which require solving by significantly upgrading a few players.

The plan's fucked if they don't turn up tomorrow for a derby. All true - but playing first team players without rest is a game that catches up with clubs/players after Christmas.
One other issue is that due to internationals virtually no team training in summer preseason, and very little since. Maybe a week together on training field is part of the plans
