It's a Uefa rule not a Sky rule as they don't want it clashing with the CL
Not really, it's a TV rule. Why play CL on a Tues and Wednesday if not so TV can cover more games? It's simple really. Just play EL on Tues and CL on Wednesday or vice versa - UEFA will then have no worries about clashes . The EL teams could then play EPL games on Sat and CL teams on Sunday, or vice versa
How it is, Chav s played most of the CL games on a Tues and then EPL on Sunday. They only twice played on Wednesday Cl and Sat EPL.
Then when both comps get to the KO stage the EL plays it's ties a week apart, whilst the CL 3 weeks apart.
Chavs had their EPL game v Leicester postponed which could have been played Wednesday night before the COC final surely. Yet we had to travel to Italy and play on a Thursday night before the COC final, when Chav's 2nd leg v PSG isn't until the 11th of this month.
CL is structured so that CL teams benefit and is dictated by TV.
If they played EL on Wednesday then they would miss out on one of the sky 4 CL games. So, they play ties on Tues and Wed to the detriment of the EL teams who will play on Sunday regardless.
I heard Hoddle say that Spurs only had to look at Liverpool v Man City as Liverpool played on Thursday night in Turkey too.
Well Glen they have not been doing it all season. Out of the 6 CL games they played half on Tues night and Sat/Sun EPL. They only had to play the equivalent of a Thursday/Sun in half of those games, Chavs less.
The Europa League needs to be restructured if it's going to hold any credibility and not seen as a squad killer.
It needs to be played on either a Tues/Wed night and EPL games structured on Sat/sun, wherever possible, as the CL now - so that invariably there are 3 days between.
They then need to stop all the CL fuck ups entering it, as that devalues the competition, imo.
That's the only way imo.
MP siad at SAFC that EL kills teams. He hasn't changed his mind. If you look at the finals of the EL since the CL teams were allowed access, the finals invariably feature one, and in some cases two, CL team/s.

I mean when we were in the CL 2010 we had 4 or 5 days between our Cl and EPL fixtures, with the exception of one, and then 2 weeks between KO ties V AC.
Yes, we may have had Bale and Modder, but we had a much weaker squad and we managed to get tot he QF's in our first ever CL entry.

Have hated Sky's coverage since the days of Gray and Keys when after an early honeymoon period when Sky first began their bias against Spurs was allowed to get worse and worse. Then came Jamie Redknapp, so against us (pre his Dad joining) I had to reach for the mute button everytime he came on as pundit.

We've had a terrible deal from Sky over the years, and I think it has had a detrimental effect on the club.
