Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Before the season most people were content with a good cup run or 2 and a qualifying for Europe.

We have a cup final nailed. In the knockouts of the Europa and are in a great position to qualify for Europe. Still very much in contention for Champions league.

Add to that completely routing top of the table Chelsea and completely outplaying / beating Woolwich and the emergence of Kane / Mason / Bentaleb as real quality players this season has been great so far.

Furthermore the resurgence of Danny Rose / Chadli, the improvements of Eriksen and Lamela somewhat and a some solid transfer business with Dier / Davies / Vorm and hopefully Dele Alli who looks a real prospect.

Oh yeah and Lloris is still the tits and we have the old Vertognhen back.

Decent.

Couple more points.

We appear to have style and ethos. Nice.

WHL / away games have had some great atmospheres.

:freundgoal:

To sum it all up. I have a smile on my face watching Spurs. That is what it is all about.

Disclaimer: I don’t want to gauge whether this season has been successful or not solely on a top 4 finish. If we continue to progress under Poch in the manner we have then a cup final and being at the right end of the table come May will be enough for me.

However (no pressure)

I would say we’ve got the easiest run in along with maybe Woolwich.

We’re also in a decent position that we’ve played most of the teams around us twice now, apart from Southampton and Man U (both away). Where as there are still a lot of 6 pointers to be played by our competition.

Scousers still have to play City, Woolwich, Man U and Chelsea plus Southampton and Stoke away! We Go Again.

We'll probably win the hard ones and lose to the relegation cloggers at home

These threads appear annually and it hardly ever goes according to script - this is Spurs, remember

Had we started the season with our current preferred eleven we might have been in a stronger position right now. I think we'll finish 6-7th but with enough positivity around the place to start next season much better than this one. All those league games with Kaboul, Capoue and Adebayor really look a waste now.

We have a young team playing some fantastic football, the son of God playing up front, great manager and a bit of atmosphere from the fans. I don't mind about top 4, that was never our goal at the beginning of the season anyway, just hope Poch continues to progress the team. In the words of the creepy clown making kids fat "I'm lovin' it".

The English FA has 4 Champions League places & 3 Europa League Spots. No more, no less.

The interesting Senario is this; Goons finish 5th but win Champions league ( yuck feel sick ) & Liverpool finish 6th but win the Europa. The teams in 4th & 3rd get Europa League ! While those 2 join Champions League.

But then out of FA Cup winners & League Cup winners who would get the remaining Europa spot ? Hope it's not us !

Or better: Woolwich finish 4th but we win the Europa and thus do a Chelsea on them!

i dont know about the rest of yous but if we dont get fourth i would much rather finish 6th than 5th...i couldnt stand another season of sunday kick offs. a season to fully concentrate on the league and a good domestic cup run would be great. just look at Southampton this season.
So you don't want to win the Cup?

if someone said spurs would finish 5th at the start of the season they would have hardly been locked up in a padded room. a top 5 finish is almost becoming mandatory for us.

Based on last year? I think alot of us would have been silly to think we'd be fighting for 3rd.

Utd spent 200m and got LVG
Liverpool had come off a title chasing year.
Man City and Chelsea are uncatchable.
Woolwich always finish in the top four.
Everton retained their best players and came close to fourth last year.

My prediction anyway was a top 7 finish, a good run in a cup and to see some sort of philosophy by the end of the season.

We are in Feb, we are fighting for third, still in Europe, in the final of a cup and have our Spurs again.

exactly, and if you had of believed in the team like i do, none of this would be coming as a shock to you.
I believed in Poch. But I didn't believe in the likes of Paulinho, Kaboul, Capoue etc who are poisonous. No one predicted the youth takeover that has seen us move up the table. If we had kept relying on the former, we wouldn't be anywhere near we are now.

Is that true? How many goddamned slots are there for this poisoned chalice?

If you finish 5th you get a Europa League Spot.
If you win the FA cup you get a Europa League spot.
If you win the League Cup you get a Europa League spot.

However, if the winner of the cup is already qualified for a European competition (CL or EL) then it goes to the 6th and 7th placed team, if memory serves me correct.

If a team finishes 5th or lower but wins a European tournament, they will enter IN ADDITION TO the top 4. The only way to come 4th and miss out is if both the CL and EL winners come from England and both finish below 4th, in which case the team in 4th will miss out because there's a maximum of 5 entrants from one country.

So really we want to hope chelsea have the title sown up with a win over the woolwich, meaning we'll then play a demoralised city

Huge game next Sunday, Southampton vs Liverpool, would be happy with them drawing and getting huge injuries.

If we beat West Ham the day before we could be up to 4th.
