Agree. I would also add that he is used to working under/with a DoF/Technical Director. Also, as I think about it, I think he is a really good fit for us.
We demand an attacking team, well thats how he sets up.
We need a more tactical framework underpinning that, which is exactly how he is credited.
He needs an opportunity, for a young coach there are few better than Spurs
He has a lot of the same ideals as LVG - but is much less volatile, and being younger offers possible longevity LVG doesnt.
He has a certain gravitas which previous managers just dont have. His reputation is excellent.
He leans to a 433 (I believe) and IMO our squad is set up well to suit him / him suit us.
He is credited with developing youth - something the club is desperate for
He already has an excellent relationship with two of our most important players, which could be vital in getting him off to a good start.
He is (theoretically) available at the end of the season, not at the end of July.
If we got him in I think Id be quite excited at the prospect.
He is at the top of my list, but I feel unfortunately he will end up at Barca next year (he has been linked with them all year).
Can someone explain to me why Frank is an improvement on AVB?
I seriously doubt this. He is good, for sure. But mostly against hier teams and more defending teams. Once he plays a lesser/shit team who is willing to do damage against Ajax they completely don't have a clue what to do.
in example:
• both matches vs Redbull Salzburg.
• KNVB Throphy final vs. PEC Zwolle.
• some away games this season.
Main problem are the players itself I think. I think they are approaching games like, we are Ajax let's smash these tiny wannabee pro's. The job for FdB is to motivate them though.
Other thing is, he only has managed one team, the biggest club of the Netherlands.

Sounds a lot like AVB in shape/high line/pressing but also a lot more fluid with a better attacking basis. I like the sound of that, people slag off AVB but his set up wasnt all bad
Obviously its only a blog and therefore only someones opinion, take it with a pinch of salt and all that.Fantastic, these are the articles I've been searching for, great find.

However I appreciate the content and the effort taken, I certainly feel I have a better idea of FDBs set up than I did an hour ago.
It was the lack of fluidity that bothered me most about AVB's system. I didn't have too many issues with his setups, but it was the rigidity that I think was the big problem. When we were healthy, the high-line and shape was working well based upon the amount of goals we were allowing. Once into the final third, we just completely lacked a threatening look and speed about us. With the amount of speed and creativity we had at our disposal, we should have been running defenses ragged with overlapping and cutting runs in, but it almost seems like our players couldn't move out of position to make that happen.Sounds a lot like AVB in shape/high line/pressing but also a lot more fluid with a better attacking basis. Don't expect De Boer at Barcelona any time soon. The current Barca board and Cruyff don't get along at all. Bringing in De Boer is bringing in Cruyff. Valverde and Luis Enrique are much more likely.De Boer or Benitez for me.
My concern would be De Boer has a strong link (ex-player, Cruyff) to Barcelona and they might want him after the difficulties this season.
Our whole style of play was too slow and still is. Instead of quick passing and moving the ball forward quickly we have players like Dembele and Paulinho that take too many touches and pass sideways. With Bale gone there is also a serious lack of pace in the team apart from Lennon and Walker. Since selling Bale our threat on the counter attack is non-existant.That was the missing link, IMO.
Had AVB allowed more fluidity in attack, got us actually looking dangerous and scoring I genuinely think we would be in Liverpools shoes right now and nobody would be bemoaning the "turgid football".
We were (by and large) dominating games, we just ran out of ideas/impetus in the final 3rd.
FDB sounds very similar to AVB in set up* but with the vital difference of fluidity and an attacking plan. I think AVB showed high pressing etc works well in this league, if someone can round of the package we could be very exciting.
*Which could well be a factor in his favour considering the squad building AVB did, much of it could be put to good use
Maybe Mate?We have 0 chance with Martinez and Ancelotti, mate - might as well take them off the list
No, mateMaybe Mate?
