How did it suddenly go from how "we" would have done if he shot 55 times more suddenly to a comparison to Townsend? There are three options:

3. You have basic reading comprehension problems.

Personally, I think it's a combination of all three in some way.

The fact is that if Eriksen would have shot 55 more times on goal, he would have probably had better accuracy and more goals than Townsend. That being said, I think that Eriksen has taken opportunities when it made sense to. Taking 55 more shots just to take 55 more shots =/= success, or at least a better team performance.

Keep in mind Eriksen has had 38 shots at goal, and has scored 5 times.

Back on topic: How am I unfairly targeting English players? I would say my criticism, after the fact without hindsight was correct. Lennon, Rose, Defoe, Naughton and Daws have been the worst performers of the season in a team underperforming.

The only one I said was good enough for the starting 11 was Walker. And I would keep Daws as 3rd string backup. The rest are soft Spurs incarnate.

I started a thread on how these players were mugging AVB when Defoe was scoring early in the season. Why didn't you include Soldado? Bentaleb? Chadli? Paulinho? Would you really argue that any of them have had solid years?

Each one has had the occasional good game or important goal, but they've all been severely deficient of what has been needed or expected from them. The fact that you continually make excuses for certain players (who just happen to be non-English) as to why they have performed badly, but don't do so for the English is unfair and biased.

Just because Eriksen may have been more accurate or had a higher goal rate, can you honestly say that "WE" (which is how you phrased your original question) would have been better??

Eriksen had a better conversion rate because he didn't feel the need to shoot an additional 55 times more. If he had shot 55 times more, the chances are that we would be saying, "Eriksen is a real talent but he's selfish and takes too many forced shots." Just one of the many differences between him and Townsend is that he can make smart decisions, and obviously cares more about quality chance creation, rather than just quantity.

Kaboul is quality as well, but we dumped his ass the first time because he wasn't playing to his expectations. We brought him back when he was better. We've had other quality players that didn't fit the team, the style of play, or it could have just been them. I'm not saying that none of them are, but you also can't deny that some of them have underperformed, demonstrated a shitty attitude at time, and/or have been just one cog in the letdown machine that has been Spurs this year.
