Genuine question: do we actually have a specialist fitness coach as part of our new setup?

Conte did have his specialist, Pietro "The Marine" Ventrone, who sadly passed away during the season.

I remember van Pervert slagging off Moyes' endless running sessions at manure as "Scottish training".

Here's a snippet from a Dutch trainer (from 2013):

-----------------------------------------

The Dutch fitness specialist Raymond Verheijen has criticised the training methods of David Moyes, who claimed to have "overtrained" Robin van Persie "to build up his fitness".
"The only way to solve this problem in Jurassic Park is to improve education of these dinosaur coaches, fitness clowns & scientific cowboys," he wrote. "All over the world in preseason you see the pattern overtraining-fatigue-injuries'. Always avoid accumulation of fatigue in pre-season."

And Verheijen was dubious as to football's ability to align with his recommendations. "As long as most dinosaurs are still in denial and ignore how things develop in other countries, nothing will ever change," he said. "Obviously, players like RVP should learn to protect themselves better against 'overtraining'."

Robin van Persie: fitness coach criticises 'dinosaur' training methods

I think he’s probably just using our in-house fitness department and getting his new coaches to set that up. Fitness department separate from medical department hopefully!

This section from Ally Gold's piece:

Postecoglou has admitted himself that some might find his ways extreme, with his relentless attacking, possession-based football, with near non-stop training sessions of 60-70 minutes during the season to reflect the time the ball is in play during a match. In pre-season the work is even tougher to prepare the players' bodies physically for the energy required in the months ahead.

Particularly for our more attack-minded players, it's crucial for Ange to learn how quickly their footballing brains work when the focus is on quick, pass & move, attacking play.

Under Mourinho, Nuno & Conte, they've been drilled into safety-first, getting back into shape, safe rather than risky play. So pre-season is partly about changing the mentaltiy, and seeing who flourishes & who looks lost.

Then, next, Ange needs to see which players can physically survive the relentlessness, without their bodies screaming "no mas", or getting injured.

For instance, GLC may look creative & dangerous in Ange's attacking system. Whether he can physically survive pre-season is another matter altogether.

And there's risk too. Any of our "sellable" players who get injured in pre-season will likely still be with us come September.

I think the type of physical stamina needed to thrive consistently in a system that used lots of one or two touch passes is very different from one requiring relentless physical aggression (i.e., long runs, dribbling through opponents, etc).

For example, Pep’s Barca side didn’t require physical superiority. Rather, they were superior technically and tactically. Lots of one or two touch passes.

I think Ange’s system with the ball requires quicker and more accurate decision making, not necessarily more physical intensity. The dull footballers will have a harder time with Ange’s system.

The physical intensity will be needed to press and recover the ball.

Cantwell is average.

You cringeworthy piece of shit. He still has Hatate looking around Ibrox for him.

Hatate is a beautiful human being of outstanding character who is linked with Premier League clubs with European ambitions, like Tottenham and Brighton.

Cantwell, like most of your signings, is a Championship reject, linked with absolutely no fucker and spends all his spare time making embarrassing af TikTok videos of himself dancing.

:ange-facepalm:

It is worrying and concerning if the club don't buy 2 decent CDs in this window. Ange wants to play attractive attacking entertaining football. There are reasons why Jose and Conte played defensive cautious boring football. There are also reasons why Nuno failed badly.

Chill out, we will.

Ange on Manor Solomon: “It's great to get Manor in. He's someone who was identified pretty early. People are well aware of the way I set my teams up and those attacking positions, particularly the wide attacking positions, are really important.”

"Club signing cunt."

:angryscouser:
That's the bit that always makes me laugh here. EVERY player should be a 'club signing,' with everyone at the club on board with it, whether it is a ready made first team player, or a future prospect.

No doubt the quote from Ange will be spun into 'toeing the company line' by some here.

From a bloke who's never 'toed a company line' in his career.

It's DVDs, mate. Do follow the times, yeah?
