At the age of somebody like Scarlett, you want him to be able to play without pressure. He should be coming on in the last 5 or 10 minutes in games where we're 2 or 3 up. Unfortunately those situations aren't happening at the moment so any opportunity Scarlett gets is filled with expectation. Markanday is 3 years older than Scarlett so that probably helps in terms of managing pressure but the same probably applies to him. Markanday could do with a loan in jan, Scarlett too young for a lower league loan and should only be brought on for experience rather than being expected to make an impactBut could they try less or be more useless ?
Our recruitment policy is all based on being good in 2026 it seems.
WHY is Scarlett thrown in too early but Markandy gets 20 minutes and looks ready ?
Sess is the new sick note, only able to play for internationals or loans abroad.
If we haven't got ONE junior who could do better than the team vs United, then we have got areal job in Jan window.
Surely Markandy must start against Vitesse at home
HOW RIGHT YOU ARE !Our recruitment policy is absolutely insane imo. There is every chance that Gil, Sarr, Sessegnon, Clarke etc go on to be world beaters but our squad was weak last season and even weaker this season. Absolutely no way we had the luxury to spend such money on players like Gil who might come good rather than first team quality. The result is now West Ham and Leicester have better squads than us, are more advanced in their projects and they can now start bedding in young players because they have a strong, coherent first xi.
