Various posters are calling for us to sign double digit goal scorers.
They are as rare as hen's teeth.
That is why the criticism of Son on here is so dumb.
Here are our goal scorers of the last few seasons:

We have been scoring around about 70 goals per season for the last dozen years.
We are are on course for a repeat (probably better) this season. Here is my expectation (guess) of who will score our goals this season:

No immediate panic on goal scoring with Son and Maddison, but we really need to get 3 or 4 players to get into double figures for goals/assists.

I'm expecting Johnson to be one of them - he got 10 goals and 3 assists last season for a struggling Forest side, so he's clearly able. Just a question of playing time.

Current goal. and assist stats for this season below, and its noteworthy that already 13 players have contributed. :

Nice to use this for ”who will score”, rather than “who needs replacing”!

Forget the patched up defence and MF, it was the stupid misses/trying to walk it in/offsides that cost us the 3 points.

I think it will click sooner or later. Always a bigger concern if you can't create chances vs can't kill them off.

I think these players are still adjusting to playing together and at this mental tempo. They need to make decisions and few split seconds quicker with this type of football. Maddison helps with that because he sees the game quicker and can make it easier for others.

PL latest stats for season so far:

Shots on Goal
1 Liverpool 225
2 Mancity 214
3 Spurs 210
4 Villa 194

Goals Scored
1 Mancity 33
2 Villa 31
3 Newcastle 31
4 Brighton & Liverpool 28
6 Woolwich 27
7 Spurs 25

In short our conversion rate of just under 12% is too low.

The squad is being put together fairly quickly so players do not know each others game as much as they will, and it won't be helped by our lengthy injury list changing our team regularly, but in IMO coaches need to look at :
i) Shooting practice - getting all forwards and a number of others converting chances more regularly
ii) Finding ways for teams to play better together to make better passes so other players have easier chances to score
iii) Coaching players to avoid getting offside - was it 2 or 3 goals ruled out for offside v Villa.

I'm sure Maddison's return will increase number and quality (ie ease to score from) of chances and new players joining in January may aid our goalscoring, but we need to work on players we have now. Ange has done a great job of changing the mentality of the club in a short time, this is one of his next challenges !

Maddison's long lay off means he is unlikely to reach double figures this season.
But Richi and Kulu have done better than expected.
Disappointing that our midfielders have not chipped in with more goals and it is a surprise that Porro has not scored yet.

Some experts are saying we should get rid of Kulu and Johnson?

We already score a lot of goals. We're joint 5th in the league and one off 4th place Newcastle. We're only behind the leaders by 5-7 goals, and we've done that while enduring an injury crisis, losing key players to international cup play, and only being in the first half season of a rebuild under a new coach and new system.

We'll get our goals when we can get some more consistency with our better players and get into rhythm again. We'll continue the rebuild and get better depth in our attack and will be able to weather downturns in form, unluck with injuries and suspensions, and absences of key players much more capably.

Its tempting to wonder what happened but also if we are being fair our current situation makes total sense given the inputs. Lets see where we end up at the end of the season and make our assessments at that time. I think we all have a pretty good idea what is working for Ange and what could be improved.

With 52 goals from 25 matches so far. that's a tad over 2 goals/game

Which extrapolated gets us to just under 80 goals for this 38 game season 23/24 ............ versus the 70 goals/season we've been averaging over recent seasons.

So a combination of Son, Richarlison, Maddison, Kulusevski, Johnson et al have done well without Kane, despite the opinion of pre-season pundits.

Sorry but you get an instant dislike for using the term ‘Assists-ish’. What in the flying fuck are they?

That shit is unacceptable.

OK Maddison had a lengthy injury period out but he needs to pull his finger out.
Porro is well overdue a goal.
Apart from that the other players are doing at least as good as I expected.

Spurs have scored 61 goals in PL after 29 games.

Extrapolating Spurs on course for almost 80 goals …….. rarely do we get more than 70 goals !
