Reasons;
1) Constant changing of managers

We thoroughly lack an identity since Poch left us. Not that this is an issue but our decay really started with Mourinho joining us when his philosophy doesn’t fit into our DNA.

Nuno is the worse appointment in terms of philosophy and DNA.

2) Players misfit. The appointment of Paratici is good… but he came in at the wrong time.

This is a period of great instability and he has done his job rather alright so far. Why so?

He recruited players based on the philosophy of the current manager (Nuno then). Eg., Emerson and Gill might have been a good fit in Nuno system but somehow, they have no place in Conte system.

3) Gross mismanagement by Levy.
If we were to put down the catastrophic decline to one person, it has to be Levy.

His business acumen would be great for profit but terrible for footballing success.

1) he sack Poch (perhaps rightfully so) but it would not have got to this stage if he had supported Poch by giving him the funds earlier.

2) he appointed Mourinho when his expiry date is up.

3) he ruthlessly sacked Mourinho on the eve of a final, which I am sure doesn’t go down well with most other managers and players…
This led to difficulties in appointing a new manager in the aftermath.

4) he rejected Conte and appointed Nuno becoz he must have thought Nuno is a yes man which would save him tonnes of money….

5) If he doesn’t supply the required fund to Conte this time round, and Conte leave, so will tonnes of many other fans who will surely be disillusioned. Surely, if we still FAIL with the best manager of earth now, we are hopeless!

So in 2020/21 we finished 7th .... currently we're 7th ..... yup we've gone back at least two years, what utter nonsense.

Currently we have the best manager for decades, maybe since Billy Nick, have 200m available (as per the THFC accounts) for signings, the most in our history, have the best stadium in the EPL .... and believe it or not, we have a pretty decent young squad .... try looking at the positives you sad fucks.

We’ve come a long, long way in the last 20 years. We were very lucky with Poch, but he ran out of steam. Levy obviously wants the club to do well and financially backed mourinho who he thought was still a top coach. Sure, we struggled under him and struggled more to replace him. That said, Conte is a far better manager than Poch and Paratici seems to be a better football man than Levy - glad he’s buying our players rather than the bald one.

Have a bit of patience. And if you’re feeling grumpy, go on Transfer Markt and pull up our 2001 squad and do a man for man comparison. Tottenham Hotspur - Detailed squad 00/01

Aside from Anderton, Les Ferdinand and Ledley, how many of these would get into our squad if they were in their prime today?

We will come good, this is just a blip on an upward trajectory.

Don't understand the thread title at all.....

Things feel more promising now than they did through much of 2021 and 2020 for that matter.

EDIT: Oh, I get it.... It's just another generic Levy bitch-up thread.

MERGE.

I think the main frustration is we were really close a few years back and a couple of quality signings may have got us over the line .We are a long way from that position now

Well Levy has made a bagful of mistakes the last couple of years and the depressing thought is that the situation is not going to improve much if at all .Nobody expects Conte to be here that long so he won't have the time to really sort out the squad and bring it up to the required standard .With enic running the show the level of investment allied with terrible recruitment means will never challenge for the big prizes only hope in a cup is if all the good teams get knocked out that is our main hope I feel .

You deluded mug. Levy the slag will never spend £200M

Because he was a great manager
Mentalitiy, chemistry, he knew how to handle the players and played the perfect style of football with this team
I still don't understand why Levy sacked him
Players were still behind him. There was no sign that they did not played against him. In football sometimes you have to trust to a manager even if the results are not good
You can't compete 3 years in a row with the same team (starting 11) at the top of the league
Mentality? He was a serial loser, some might even say bottler.

Levy was 100% right to sack him when he did, where Levy has fucked up is with the appointments afterwards

How many semis and finals did Porch lose? Was that down to poor management or lack of investment? If lack of investment how did we reach so many?
Investment had a part to play .
We were always outgunned by serial winners who usually invested bucket loads in their first 11 where we didn't .
Being passive , reluctant to strengthen in quality has always been our downfall.
Poch raised us but made mistakes like Son as wing back against chavs but overall he was always at a disadvantage , same as Harry and everyone else .
