If you don't think all the other big teams are going to improve you are kidding yourself. Chelsea have Conte who is an exceptional manager and they will undoubtedly be better than the shambles they were last year (unfortunately), United now have not only Mourinho but Zlatan and Mkhytarian and they will grind out results playing Jose's crappy football, City have arguably the best manager in the world in Guardiola and have added Gundogan and Nolito to what was probably the best squad on paper in the league anyway. Liverpool will benefit with a full Klopp pre-season, although their mediocre squad most likely will mean they won't be challenging for anything. Everybody will improve, even us, but we have to make sure we go that extra length to get to a better stage than last season.

There's every chance, they will indeed improve. But you're stating it very matter of factly. This isn't Fifa or FM but real people, and changing the man in charge of an enviroment such as a football team is always going to be high risk. Yeah, it can improve things - vastly even - but likewise it can all go pearshaped soon enough.

You can toss as many names in, you want. And Pep could buy the world's best in each of the 11 positions, and it could still turn to shit. The better players, and especially the better a (man-)manager the less risk of it going wrong, but it's never ever a case of everybody improving because everybody is buying on paper better players. If that was the case Atletico Madrid wouldn't consistently be getting further than every English team, just to bring one example.

I like the idea of two strikers. Gives us more flexibility.
Returning to the issue of accommodating two strikers, HITC Sport is reporting that part of Pochettino's pitch to Janssen was that 4-4-2 was an option.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Vincent Janssen he can play in 4-4-2 at Tottenham

The HITC piece references a de Volkskrant article entitled, "Daredevil Janssen signs with Tottenham Hotspur"
