To be fair, we don't know how exactly he trained with Tottenham. For all we know, he could have had sessions with the Under 21's for fitness sake and for them to learn off a more experienced player.
Let's hope none of them asked him for a masterclass on beating the offside trap.

Mauricio Pochettino reports doubts over defensive trio Vlad Chiriches, Federico Fazio and Younes Kaboul ahead of our Premier League clash against Sunderland at White Hart Lane tomorrow (Saturday, January 24, 3pm).

Federico and Younes are both struggling against the effects of illness while Vlad, who scored against Burnley in our FA Cup replay win on Wednesday night, has a back problem.

“We’ll analyse the players and make a decision tomorrow,” said Mauricio.

Erik Lamela (calf) and Ryan Mason (hamstring) remain sidelined while Nabil Bentaleb is on African Cup of Nations duty with Algeria

I don't really see this as being a bad thing? Possibly our 3 worst defenders are out of the game this weekend, although I have to admit Fazio has been improving.

The worst thing about this is that Mason and Bentaleb are out.

It will be interesting to see what Dier is like in his prefered CB position, he definitely has the build for it.

We'll miss Fazio for sure. Looks like Dier is going to get a chance. I'm dreading the the midfield pivots Dembele, Stambo and maybe Paulinho.

Big chance for Townsend to carry the momentum vs Burnley. SOUNDED like he had good game.

Yeah, it's difficult. From Capoue, Paulinho, Dembele and Stambouli it's the last two for me, but mostly because I don't want Capoue and Paulinho to start.

With Davies, Verts and Walker we should be in good stead to give Dier a chance, not happy about the speed of the middle though, Dembele and Stambouli are not the quickest.

Without Fazio we will struggle. Sunderland will play balls over the top for Defoe all game. He'll be onside for at least one of them.

I'm not a betting man, but if "IamJermainDefoe" (didn't realise his first name was Ian??) plays tomorrow, he scores... no ifs, no buts, we are already as good as a goal down...
still, they've mooted the handicap system in games before... maybe this 'goal start' could be the testing ground for the idea... to see if it's viable an'all...

Just played it out on FIFA so bet on it.
- Chadli gets injured somehow as he is pulled down in the box, John O'Shea sent off, Kane scores.
- Paulinho comes on to replace Chadli, Eriksen goes on the left
- Townsend cuts in, takes a shot which the keeper saves and ball comes back to Eriksen who makes in 2-0
Half time
- Paulinho breaks, holds onto it for a while then releases Eriksen who has space 3-0.
- Pochettino sees that we've won the game and takes off Kane for Soldado.
- Paulinho releases Soldado 1 on 1, he shoots but keeper saves, but the ball falls to Soldado who is past the keeper, he scores with an open goal. 4-0
- Capoue feeds Soldado on a break away, the Spaniard keeps calm and strong and runs 20 yards before slotting away 5-0
- Eriksen gets the ball to Soldado in the box, he turns his marker and finishes in the bottom left 6-0 (Soldado hat-trick): Lane goes ballistic with every man, woman and child singing 'Viva Soldado'
Full time Spurs 6 - 0 Sunderland
