Clubs are so vast and so complex and so detail oriented it takes a whole management team to make them work.
And to be a real success it means getting the RIGHT manager, the RIGHT medical guys, the RIGHT scout, the RIGHT academy head, the RIGHT coaches all at the same time and working in unison. Its a near impossible task!
Look at any hiring and firing over recent years (and not just us, any club). Its not announced that we parted ways with Redknapp, but Redknapp, Bond, Jordan... And we didnt hire AVB, we hired AVB, Freund...

Haha i just knew it someone would bring up Harry Redknapp, it's the ultimate narrative to explain everything that went wrong at spurs. It is as logical as saying when spurs change the sponsors on their t-shirt everything went wrong. Everything went wrong for me when Modric was not replaced, he was far more important than Bale for keeping the balance in the team and second problem was not replacing van der vaart.Fans don't seem to realise how important these players were and the way they linked up for us playing that brand of attacking free flowing football. We didn't need to 'gel', they instinctively fit because they just carried on doing what they used to do.So for the midfielders we have are indeed top INDIVIDUAL TALENTS but they don't improve balance of the team. Only sandro and capoue you know their roles are distinct, defensive midfielders, its straight forward
As for paulinho and dembele we keep trying to make them creative players which they are not.Paulinho is a box to box midfielder, he likes to run, defend a little and pops up with a goal, but he ultimately doe not thread throughballs like Modric or have that vision. Dembele likes to defend,hold posession and dribble but he can't thread the throughballs or pick those killer passes to make our attacking midfielders click
Now last season it worked, because we had gareth Bale. I know what system AVB wants to play but he simply did not have the players, nor does sherwood this season. Townsend and lennon are wastemen,they epitomize everything that is wrong with english football. Running, Physical strength and zero ability in decision making in the final 3rd.
