Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Format :

Twelve teams from Premier League 2 (of whom Spurs will be one) and 12 equivalent teams from elite European Academies are invited, with the competition split into three groups of eight.

Each PL2 club will play each of the four international clubs in their group.

The PL2 teams do not face each other, neither do the international teams play one another in the group stage.

The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals.

In the knockout stages, the ties are decided in one-off matches, with extra-time and then penalties required if the match is level after 90 minutes.

All matches are played in England.

Have barely managed to fit in all the u21 matches as it is with the PL2, PL Cup and Football League Trophy and with games postponed for frozen or waterlogged pitches. Going to be fun for somebody fitting in an extra 4+ games in there next season :ange-facepalm:

PL2 - 20 matches
PL Cup - maybe 7 matches to final, likely 5 ?
FL Trophy - usually only 3 or 4 matches (u21 sides rarely go beyond group stages)
PL International - maybe 7 matches to final, likely 5 ?

So likely no more than 38 games in the season - same as PL ?

Key should be to schedule more games in early part of the season, to avoid build up of matches later (partly due to inclement weather) - not enough games scheduled before Christmas this season, if 2/3/4 more games played before Christmas, no fixture backlog !

Yeah simple solution on paper but the issue is stuff like availablity of stadiums and a lot of the knockout games end up getting pushed later so teams that are behind on games can catch up. Obviously teams like Palace have managed it this season so will work somehow.

There are also talks at the moment about another new u21 tournament similar to the FL Trophy but with National League teams next season...

I think that if the new National League/u21 cup comes into being the top 16 u21 clubs involved in that would probably need to forgo competing in u21 PL Cup (allowing non Cat 1 clubs to enter teams) to avoid fixture congestion.

Alternative would be to omit u21 sides from efl trophy - but this might be a retrograde step as it means u21's don't play L1 and L2 sides, which is a higher standard of competition and of course the level of club a lot of u21's want to go on loan to,

Agree, I'm not sure if Moore will get a place on first team bench despite a very good stint in first team training in last week or two - he is still aged 16 and others with more experience around, but I think its more realistic that he gets playing time off the bench n the post season match in Australia and pre-season matches.

Although he's not trained that much with u21's I do wonder if he gets involved in Monday's last PL2 game of the season v Palace - its a dead rubber now Spurs have won the first stage league, and a good match for him.

Creative attacking midfield player scoring and assisting for fun at Wham since being released by ManCity a year ago apparently, so I'm guessing a Madison type player.

If he came to us he'd go into u21's - I suspect he's replace Jamie Donley who should be out on loan next season. IMO the closest top player we have close to him is probably Tyrese Hall who plays slightly further back as a CM.
