Next Generation 2022: 20 of the best talents at Premier League clubs

Tottenham always pick their strongest team in the FA Youth Cup and last season, that meant starting Willhoft-King in every tie – even though he was still a schoolboy. The journey lasted three games and it was an excellent experience for the standout talent of his year group at Spurs but it is where Willhoft-King intends to go next that is exciting. At the club since the age of six, the England under-16 international is smooth on the ball and was pretty much a regular for the Spurs Under-18s from last October, although he would miss the end of the season because of injury. His range of passing is impressive.

After 3 matches I think we can probably guess most of the squad v Eintracht by listing the players who have played either 2 or 3 of previous games (games played in brackets) :

GK - Gunter (2), Hayton (1)
Defenders - Dorrington, Abbott, Andiyapan, McKnight (all 3 games), Chapin (2)
Midfielders - Craig, Mundle, Mathurin, (all 3 games), Devine (1 game, previously injured)
Forwards - Donley, Williams (both 3), Moore, Ajayi (both 2)

These 15 players who are (imo) most likely to be the core of the squad for this game.

No sign yet of Will Lankshear who I hoped might be added to the squad.

BT Sports 2 currently saying game will be shown from 13.00 to 15.00 on Wednesday !

We have a good blend now. Donley getting irritated at being told to speed up “Pass”, over and over, but looks closer to being in form today.

Like Mundle, who wouldn’t with his quick feet.

Subs :
46 mins - Lankshear for Williams (forward for forward)
66 mins - Olusessi for Abbott (midfielder for defender)

A couple of excellent goals from Devine (both assists by Donley). Didn't see the match and don't understand a mad 7 or 8 mins at start of 2nd half - is this poor players or manager relaxing players at HT rather than telling them to go out and win it ?

From what I saw Frankfurt made some subs at half time and cam out like a team possessed. Think our boys weren't expecting it and wilted under the onslaught. Took them a few minutes to recover but we'd conceded three by then. Second was a bit unlucky and the 3rd was sweetly hit.

Not keen, at all, on coaches tone, when ‘encouraging’.

Has the chastising Dad tone, hope Sports Science help him, as the players (nobody) don’t like it.

Spurs u18's don't play this weekend, next match on Saturday 22nd v Fulham.

But Spurs u21's have 2 matches in fairly quick succession :

1) Saturday 15th October @ 11 am v Wolves away (PL2)

2) Tuesday 18th October @ 7pm Stevenage v Spurs u21 (Papa John's Trophy/EFL Trophy)(almost a home match as Spurs u21's have often played here)

With 2 matches in relatively quick succession and no u19 match, I expect to see some squad rotation with a number of u18's involved. Both Donley (red card, 3 game suspension) and Cesay (2 yellows so one match suspension) were sent off in last u21 match so are suspended for the u21 match, so quite likely that Williams and Lankshear will be the strikers in the u21 squad.
