Yep,it's a collective problem.
We get the ball in attacking positions but the final ball, final shot ,final header are not there at a consistent level.
I wonder if the young Argentinian fella ( Name escaped me)would have been better used with us rather than on loan because Sonny is having a torrid time up top, he'd be better off playing in his favoured left side... but what do I know, I'm not on 4 million quid a year.

Son has also scored a load of goals and created a bunch of assists playing up front.

It’s just not clicking atm

New projects usually require struggle like this at different times

Been saying this for a while now. By the time VDV and Romero have a team next to them that could potentially bring a trophy, They'll be offered huge money by the likes of RM. Of course Daniel will accept and we'll start the rebuild again.

A rebuild must take the maximum of 2 seasons or the Good' Youngsters are ready to join teams winning trophies. We had Harry Kane over 3 contracts and Levy didn't build around him. Do you really expect him to change?

I think it took Klopp three seasons, and Fergie possibly one more to win silverware.

I can't figure out why Ange keeps saying the players are on a learning curve?

The goals we are conceding are about poor defending that has little if anything to do with his system.

I can't think of any player that he will bring in during the Summer that would make leaving Micky by himself on the halfway line safe and secure from a counter attack?

Next season will tell, bit with the club looking for investment I can only see player purchases matching out sales.

You moan about Gallagher and Gibbs White but Gordon is a similar profile of player and he just tore us a new arsehole.

There’s no guarantees with transfers, I think generally the players we have signed in the last 2 years have had good quality so I’m not too worried about that. Players like Werner and Solomon are cheap squad fillers not major targets. When we’ve spent money under Paratici it’s generally been spent well.

Gallagher would be an ideal signing for us.

Chelsea have to sell a plyer or two of some value this Summer.

He’s bang average so he’ll fit right in here. They won’t sell to us either thankfully because I wouldn’t take him for free.

I don't think Boehly would give a fuck as long as the cheque was pucka.

50m quid pure profit to them would be a much needed boost in the summer.

Dreadful use of money from our perspective though.

But you would.

We don't have a DM worthy of the name.

Chelsea will have to sell this Summer that much is obvious, and Boely doesn't give a toss about rivalries.

Gallagher has played every game this season with three goals and six assists, and is a great box to box DM/AM.

Who do you think that we currently have that can rival that?

How can you be a box to box DM/AM? Is he 3 players in one? He’s not a DM that’s for sure and those are average numbers for an AM. Truth is he’s all and nothing. A jack of all trades who excels at none.
He’s very ordinary and won’t improve us and the chavs will want decent money for him. But if you are happy with that, crack on.

One thing I noticed at the time but haven't heard it mentioned anywhere regarding the first goal.

Maddison should have put Werner through and not Son (who had his back to goal)

Still the midfield didn't react quick enough, then Udogie got out muscled and Van der Ben went ice skating.

Last season we had a dedicated set pieces coach and were one of the best teams in the league at defending set pieces.

This season Ange had this to say about set piece coaching.

When asked whether he would consider hiring a specialist to work on offensive and defensive set-pieces, the Australian said “I’ve never had a specific set-piece coach. I’ve always had someone who’s responsible for that.

“I always think it’s better if that’s somebody who’s a part of the coaching staff because then that’s an extension of how we play our football. I don’t separate set pieces from everything else we do, in terms of the team we want to be. It all hopefully links in.

“Here we’ve split the roles between Mile [Jedinak] and Ryan Mason in terms of attacking and defensive set-pieces and they put a lot of work into it with the analysis staff. I’m sure every club does. Some have gone down the specialised route which I understand."

Tells you everything really doesn't it? Failure on set pieces this season is a direct result of the managers opinion on set pieces.

Same manager who said today that previous results against Newcastle don't matter when it comes to tactical analysis.

It's all a bit "run abaat a bit" isn't it?
Exactly what analysis are they going? A 5 yr old could tell them what is wrong. To boot mason and the Aussie guy exactly what real quality do they bring in their roles? One is an Aussie mate who Ange bought in I think and the other is mason who has just hung around the club being an ex player. Would ledders be a better defence coach than either of these two?

Yes not for me I'm afraid, same old problems, different players and management.
I don't get Ange ball at all, doesn't harm anyone, pass it around with no end product.
Sick to death, of this underperforming club, nothing ever changes, especially the performance levels.
The main problem is the inverted wingers are caught in no man’s land when teams Break bcos they are virtually next to the CF. I am sure if we played with a traditional back 4 setup we could bring the ball out better and defend better.

This all comes down to coaching and team structure which we have the likes of Mason doing. No wonder it’s fucked.

If CG is the saviour that Ange thinks he can be then we are doomed. It’s the same with Timo and BJ they some good moments mainly v bottom half teams but are no where near good enough for a top 4 team or team challenging for the title next season. Ange is on the funny stuff if he truly believes that!

I don't really want him but he actually has more assists than all our central midfield combined in the league and all comps

He has more goals than our entire midfield in all comps.
*Not inc james maddison of course whose an am

Leads me to think we maybe overrate our midfield somewhat

You do know what a "box to box" player is?

He's played as many minutes this season in a DM role as in an AM role.

We have a midfield full of "jack of all trades" in Ange's system or haven't you seen a single game this season?

FFS for an "ordinary" player he sure gest a lot of playing time, in fact more than any midfielder that we have.

Google is your friend by the way.

So you'd rate Pierre and Skipp over CG?

No one is talking about CG being our "saviour" but he's an injury free player (played every game this season) is a box to box player something Ange looks for, adds goals and assists, and a tenacious midfielder something we haven's really had since Dembele, Wanyama were at their best.

That Chelsea need to sell and none of the current top four or five teams need this type of midfielder then if he becomes available then I think Ange will go for him.

Forget rivalry, Boely will sell to us and likely has little choice unless CG goes to Europe where hardly any team could afford his transfer fee.

Thanks for your guidance, but he’s still bang average. That’s why he gets a lot of playing time for a team that is currently worse than ours. I don’t need google to tell me that.

We have a midfield of "bang average". That's why we can't break down Luton, Forest and the like.

Have to agree to disagree, but he's an upgrade on most of what we have in that role.
