Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If only they'd simply laughed in Costa's face every time he tried to bait them. Perhaps he would have gotten a red card instead of our players getting into trouble.

Definitely one of the the 'oh God, can't we turn back time?' fixtures.

Back to Dembele though... he's only got 20 mins left to respond to the FA Charge. Do you think we might actually be waiting until the last second to lodge an appeal? Would be top #cheekySpurs if so.

He's got until 6pm tomorrow.

The rules state retrospective action can be taken if the ref or his assistants don't see the incident.

The linesman must have seen it. There is a good photo of him looking right at it!
I think the rules say that retrospective action can only be taken if the incident isn't included in the officials' report. 'Seeing it' might be irrelevant if it doesn't make it into the report (which of course it should)

This from their rule book. It's obvious the linesman was in a position to judge the incident.

There has been a change to The FA's retrospective action process for the new season

The FA has made a change to its policy regarding what constitutes a 'not seen' incident for the new season.

From the start of the 2013-14 campaign, where the referee’s view of an incident has been completely obstructed and the assistant referees or fourth official are not in a position such that they could be expected to judge the challenge, based on factors such as their distance from or line of sight to an incident, The FA will be able to take retrospective action.

A good lawyer would get him off then, surely?

Apologies if this has been posted. The linesman is looking straight at it.

But whatever their rules say, and the photographic evidence, they are not going to let him off. It's not happening.

They are doing a new thing where they look right at it and claim they didnt see it. Howard Webb did that when Spurs' Scott Parker went to ground and Balotteli of Man.City then, kicked him in the head, for Webb to sharply turn his head away.

Also what this will mean is Woolwich-supporting Sky will have more say in banning players, choosing when to show incidents as they are doing all the time, and getting other non-favoured teams like Tottenham into trouble.

Agree with some of the above. There has been plenty of praise for us this season. The press were pretty much begging Roy to play all the Tottenham lads in the England game. It's just Leicester have done something we are unlikely to witness any time soon again.

Anyway, love how Dembele has dominated games this season. Hope he won't be out of too many games at the start of next season. Our relative slow start did hurt us a little this year imo. A select few signings and Poch working his magic should hopefully have us first out the traps in our last season at the grand old Lane.

I've never been a lawyer and I'd get him off!

What is crucial is that Costat turned away immediately after the alleged 'gouging' holding the other side of his face and not appearing to be in any pain or discomfort!
If someone genuinely 'gouges' someone's eye they will be in agony!

This is complete bollocks as evidenced by the Lino staring at it from 3 yds and doing fuck all!

I watched the footage for the first time since Monday...

It's clear to see Costa grabs Dembele's back, pulls his shirt down, might be his skin too. Dembele reacts to that by running his fingers down Costa's left cheek with absolutely no signifanct force. Costa grabs his right eye and then moves accross to the left to make a meal of the whole thing. Only when slowed down and taken out of context does it look anywhere near a banning offence.

This charge is trumped up and needs to be challenged as it is out of context and distorted
