Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

One thing that stands out for me is that we were able to sign up players that believed in Spurs and Pochettino enough to actively want to sign for us instead of the likes of Barcelona and PSG which is pretty shocking to be honest. Our biggest signing last year wasn't even wanted by his own fucking club...

Generally pleased with window and A- is about right

Icing on cake would have been a fit Barkley but we'll have one in January

Also pleased we've still got Sissoko which means Poch still believes
Good enough for me
:pochsmirk:

Bearing in mind the stadium constraints Id say a B

Good
Ready made Walker replacement
Sanchez looks mint
Lorente is proven at high level and offers plan B
Kept our star players
Kept some fringe players from leaving (Jansen, Sissoko, Trippier, Davies etc)

Bad
No midfield or winger

Especially if true that it was during the medical!

But why go down there at all?

It's been put to me that someone at our club contacted him while down there telling him to get himself fit and come to us in January!

Surely not!!!

I think the Carabou Cup team picks itself!
[formation=41212, Paul Gazza, There's only ONE Kyle Walker-Peters, Dave Sanchez, 'Brucie' Foyth, Danny Rose ('cos that'll learn him), 'Arry Winks, N'Koudou, Last Chance Sissoko, Lionel Edwards, Can you hear the drums Fernando Llorente, Still here Janssen][/formation]

C for me

Happy with Aurier

Llorente could well prove useful

Good fee for Walker though it doesn't much matter these days

Disappointed not to get pace out wide, we are crying out for it imo

We've still got Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Toby and Hugo (I could go on), which is massive

On reflection I'd probably go B- , at a push. Really pleased we kept hold of Danny Rose. Equally pleased we finally replaced Walker with what looks like a decent replacement. Smashing our transfer record on Sanchez gave me a stalker. And Llorente at least gives us extra fire power and less reliant on Kane to start every game.
Shame we didn't add some speedy wing players. Coming out of the window with a profit again suggests that issue could have been addressed. I don't like seeing us make a profit if our immediate deficiencies haven't been sorted.. Should never have sold Walker to a rival. So yeah, I'll go B-. More generous than I expected to be.

"Who won it", at this stage, is nonsense. However, judging who did the best job in their transfer dealings, at this stage, is not.

The job done, the decisions made, needs to be looked at based on the available information at the time when the decisions were made, not in hindsight.

It is interesting, and not nonsense, trying to evaluate now. Not least to have it to look back upon when we later see how the players actually turned out.
The point is how can you gauge who did the best job with their transfers until you know whether the transfer has been successful or not?

You can make an educated guess at who has had the better window? Engage in discussion and presumption. But "rate the window" - Based on what, who spent money, who bought the "big names" in.

Spending money is no guarantee of success and neither is buying a player who comes with a reputation.

Big name players can fail, no name players can become massively successful.

Only time will tell.

I rate it 7/10 in all honesty. We've got some good, promising players in and a seasoned head in Llorente but I'm not going to lie, the lateness in which we moved brought with it issues in itself that seemed to unsettle the fans and others associated with the club.

Happy with Davinson, Juan, Serge and Fernando (don't know enough about Gazzaniga to comment, sorry Paulo) but I do think leaving it late as well as not being able to identify and obtain players in CM and AM have ensured that Man United go into the season with the best squad and us a little behind them.

If we had got Keita Balde and Ross Barkley I think those signings, along with the ones we made would have got us to exactly where talent wise we should be going into Poch's 4th season with the club.

Quality all over, competition for places and enough depth for Mauricio to really show what he's all about as a manager.

A little short but all the right quality in other departments. 7/10

I think the Llorente transfer is a masterstroke...
Let's face it, ANY striker coming in is gonna play 2nd fiddle to Kane... if anything, I was expecting a youngster to come in and be 'happy to gain experience' when what we needed, and GOT, was someone old enough not to expect to play every game, but EXPERIENCED and TALENTED enough to know what to do when called upon!
It's almost as good as had we re-signed Bebatov! ...those EYES!!!! :pochshock::vdvdive:

I agree. I think he's in the same bracket as Sheringham and Berbatov albeit for different skills, reasons and talents and as long as his legs are still alright and he hasn't 'gone' I think he's a great buy.

If he was 30 I'd be thrilled. At 32 it all depends on how well he has been looking after himself. He's one notch below a Zlatan or a Klinsmann, which can only be good for the club. Let's hope his body can still cut it this year and next. A nice little last, late flurry in his career and a cup would be nice for him (and us)

Our pace comes from our fullbacks and we've got two very pacy fullbacks again now which helps us immensely option off the ball wise. Had such a nice balance last year with rose and Walker be great to get that back with Aurier now.

Like the fact this window we addressed the present and the future, two young centre backs, Sanchez who looks like an absolute monster of a man already. A striking option from the bench who's proven and can teach Janssen and Kane a few things. Not selling Sissoko is hopefully a bit of a confidence booster to him (though I doubt many teams were willing to pay his £90 grand a week wage).

I Also consider Barkley done in January after listening to the Everton chairman last night. Prefer him here now but if he's put for a couple of months plus the contract running down your probably talking a saving of £10 million or so for the sake of a few weeks of getting back to fitness Barkley.

3-3-2-1-1 Lloris, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Aurier, Dembele, Rose, Eriksen, Keita Balde, Dele, Kane

Bench / other squad players

Vorm
Davies/ Trippier
Foyth
Dier/Wanyama
Barkley/ Winks
Lamela/ Son/ GKN
Llorente

This for me would have been our 10/10 window. Others moved on and two sets of 11 with quality all over with a GKN to spare and try to improve. A shame as we were only a hamstring, a stubborn Merseyside team and player that preferred Monaco or Juventus over us from seeing the finest Spurs team since we last won the league really. It would have been superb to see

In defense of the thread - 80% of everything posted here on TFC is utter nonsense and rampant, overly presumptuous, speculation. The other 20% is porn and/or gifs. So to get on a high horse about not judging the winner/loser of the window today seems a bit like handing an umbrella to a man drowning in a lake during a rainstorm....

A+

not only did we upgrade certain players, we did it without spending a single penny. all that in a window where some 'decent' players went for astronomical figures.

well played danny!
