The myth that Daniel Levy is an astute businessman when it comes to players is absolute bollocks.

More often than not, he gets completely rinsed, but the media love to portray him as transfer business guru.

Ndombele
Soldado
Los Celso
Sanchez
Bergjwyn
Jannesen
Sessegnon
Armstrong
(+Possibly Richarlison, but the jury's still out)

He should have a reputation as someone who pays top dollar for mostly tat players that not a lot of other clubs want, yet he's lauded in the media.

He's probably just extremely difficult to deal with, which just makes him get ripped off even more.
How much coin does he have in the bank?
That should give you an idea about what he is about.

Levy's prime was well before any of the transfers you mention.

In a different era of Premier League football he had a real nose for situations where talent was going to become available for less than its real value.

He nicked Robbie Keane, Paul Robinson, Aaron Lennon and Danny Rose off crisis-era Leeds alone. West Ham's relegation got us Defoe and Michael Carrick.

He got prices you would never get today on young Championship talents like Bale and Walker.

Van Der Vaart was a classic deadline day swoop for a talented player who had been lost in the shuffle (Adebayor was a clever ploy like that too until it all went to hell).

Signing Gallas on a free was a cheeky and clever move.

Levy had a real feel for the marketplace once. Not that there weren't some bad players mixed in there, but from a negotiation perspective he knew when he had the leverage.

He still thinks he does in a lot of situations where he doesn't, and it constantly blows up in his face now. And the market is much, much more intelligent and deeply scouted than it was then. Levy is just a figure of a different era that won't fully accept his time has passed.

Romero
the guy who played in defence for the world champions

isn't world class?

He is...........
Just bcos he won wc with argies doesn’t make him world class. Are you saying the citeh forward is workd class or macs lister at Brighton. Hood players sure but not world class.

Iv seen nothing to suggest hes more than an average player. He was just new shiny player that managed to scored half a dozen goals against bottom league teams at a time when Kane and Son were on fire.

He takes about 10 years to turn on his feet
Cant beat a player
Runs into nowhere and then passes back
Slow as fuck
Just cuts inside all the time
One footed
Exceptional slow on the ball

Just a completely average player. Which means we’ll definitely buy him for over the odds and then loan him out in 2 seasons time

The question is "do we risk letting him go to find he just wasn't being coached well"
Interesting take because according to you in a previous post after the Newcastle debacle Conte wasn’t the problem at this club. If you are suggesting that maybe Kulu hasn’t been coached very well then surely that’s Conte’s fault and therefore maybe he was more of a problem than some of us realise

He’s playing in a disaster of a team that isn’t getting the most out of the wings. Sure look at Son. He’s 23 and from my understanding would be bought for 30m. I think that represents good value. Moura will be gone this summer which means we’ll have no one on the right. Playing him at 10 makes sense but he gives us options. There will hopefully be a culling of the squad this summer but I don’t think we should start here. Sure we’ll need another right wing at this point, we don’t need to add another to the list

Of course we do.

What kind of question is this?
One based on a season of mediocrity that has made it look like a golden season for Son.

As people have pointed out, he was OK until people worked out what his limitations are.

He's too slow to play on the right as a forward, and not skilled enough to overcome his lack of pace.

We need players that constantly perform,
this season he has been poor and has offered little . We can't afford to carry ineffective passengers as our recruitment is a shambles and we have a host of players that need moving on.
The team is in crisis and loading another problem is inexcusable incompetence

We had another slow player that played on the right side of a forward 3. A chap named Christian Eriksen. He did alright. It's not all about having pace.

Kulu looks like he has the potential to grow into a very good player. Get him working on that final ball and decision making in training.

What kind of question is this? Of course we want to keep him. He's had a bad patch, but he's still 22 and most importantly, he's a very intelligent player. We have around 15 players to get rid of, and he's not even close to being one of them.

Theres about 10 players to move first. Hes a player that needs to be coached. Like many of this squad

I've just about voted yes, but it's not as clear cut as some make it out or as I would have thought 5/6 months ago. The reasonable fee factors in, as does what we'll have to offer alternate transfer options in the summer. The likes of Raphinha and Diaby won't move for Europa League or worse. Olise is a player with question marks of his own and would cost twice the fee of Kulusevski. You'd want to see some flicker of life from him before seasons end though.
