They aren’t better on the right

Doku can play either side and is very good on either side in fairness

Salah
Saka
Bowen
Doku
Kulusevski

Deki still top 5 RW in the prem. not bad at 21/22. Not close to his prime yet either.

Foden on the right is a much better footballer than Kulu. Ask any fan of any other PL club who they’d rather face out of the two and I’d stake my life savings it wouldn’t be Foden.

He’s just a lot more talented.

Mahrez? He's in Saudi
My bad, forgot.

Foden plays LW (RF)

Foden is left footed and plays both.

Diaby is playing central.

He's a left footer (can use his right though) who nearly always played AR at Leverkusen. 31 starts as RW, 6 as LW.

Bowen? do me a favour, he's still in the honeymoon period. He's good but it's still hype until he's done it for half a season at least.

?

Doku plays LW mostly (RF)

he is right footed but is pretty two footed and so far this season has started more RW than left (6v5) according to TM. In France nearly always played RW.

Bowen - yes

Olise - On his day but inconsistent

Like Kulusevski consistent?

Neto plays LW no?

Left footer who's played 7 games as RW, 1 game as LW this season.

Sure thing.

Salah
Saka
Sterling
Bowen
Foden
Mbuemo

Not all natural RW’s but I’d all rather have them on the right than Kulu. Someone like Bowen for example - Kulu has never had a season like his season before last and Bowen is well ahead this season.

Can take Sterling out if you want as he’s more of a LW, but all the rest pretty much play there and are better. Like Bowen has 8 in 12 but you think Kulu’s better atm? Yeah .. ok man.
Diaby FFS! And while we're at it I'd take Bailey (Diaby has taken his position 2x at 2 diff clubs) over Kulu as well...just way more threat. That's right, a guy from Villa's bench over our 'starter'.

I’d take Deki over Foden on the RW.

Diaby hasn’t played wide right in the prem.

I meant Palmer. Bowen is ahead right now.

Sure he could do with getting his numbers up (including some other players converting the chances he does create); but that some genuinely think he's a poor player baffles me.

He obviously is not poor. Anyone suggesting that Kulu would be straight out "poor" or "bad" - those people have no understanding of football at all.

BUT he 100% has to change his game a little bit. On scale of "possession-oriented player" to "being end of goal-scoring/assisting opportunities" he is currently drifted too far to possession side. And I get it - without nr 9 player him holding up the play is part of how we as a team have adjusted. But once in a while he has to play even riskier, even more direct passes. And at times he has to speed things up, put in an early-ball instead of cutting in, setting the ball to cross and then pass it back / to the side.

Or short summary - amount of direct danger from Kulu have to increase. It is needed for our attacking play.

Kulu needs to be moved inside, to be the player he can be, everyone and their mum can see it.

He isn't an RW, he has said much himself. He doesn't have the speed for it, nor the ability to beat a man.

lennon bale they were exciting wingers because they had speed and the ability to beat men

i miss us having a winger like that

Unrelated to Kulusevski but it's pretty clear the player we are missing now is that 1v1 specialist that has starting 11 quality for a team that wants to challenge.

Solomon is the Lucas Moura squad player. Johnson is likely the long-term heir to Son in the middle. LW we need a fucking rapid, 1v1 killer that can cross and finish....

johnson is meant to be that isnt he? although in this system with the team pushed up high to squeeze the oppo the wingers shoulnt have to be pace merchants. kulu is fine unless we are on the counter where he cant leave the man hes just beat, there should be ways round that tho if you have son out there too.

Honestly think Johnson is a #9 in this system.

Johnson doesn't really do much in the way of beating a man, or sharp touches to create shooting opportunities for himself. More of an off-ball runner, decent finisher, good cut-backs, showing some good ability for one-two combination plays. Don't really think he'll be the starting LW in a top challenging team though tbh.

Rotation.

Son is 31/32. Next season we hopefully have Europe. No way Son can play twice a week at this intensity, without injuries and drop off.

Johnson can play any of the front 3 positions as well so will naturally get plenty of games but I'd expect him to be pushing Son to start as a #9 by end of next season at the latest.
i do think when we are on the front foot we need a 9 whos actually going to be good in the air. when teams camp in its the hardest thing for them to deal with if you have the right quality.

teams can have 11 men in their box against city but if they got kdb pumping balls in towards haaland it doesnt matter, they are going to get through.

Saying that Johnson is "long-term heir to Son in the middle" is quite a stretch, given that Son in the middle is just temporary solution, born from experiment itself :D .

It is clear for everyone to see that in order to fit Son into CF9 position we have had to alter Kulusevski role.

So no, Son there is temporary option and we will not be looking his "long-term heir" there. We are most likely trying to see what (if anything at all) comes from Veliz and Richie. If neither can be trusted to play no 9 we will try to sign ST in Jan or in the summer.
