The only sensible option was to see this coming months ago and not sell Sanchez last minute, leaving us with Eric Dier Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as the 3 CBs we can choose from in the most hectic stretch of the season.
The next most sensible option was to actually buy a second centre half last summer when all of this was plainly clear to anyone who was paying attention. No, we bought a 18 year old with a handful of Champo appearances, sold Dav, and thought we could roll with Dier and Royal and things might be fine.
Again, none of this would be an issue if we weren’t run by a fucking halfwit cheap miser in Levy. But again, doing bare minimum squad building is apparently too much to ask.

I actually liked Dav- especially compared to Dier. Was so good when he first arrived. Another one lost in the bullshit from last year Poch through Conte era.

So, so many of us foresaw this situation- only 2 established CBs + Dier- coming out of the summer, and knew this shit would happen. It’s fucking Spurs ffs- anything bad that can happen, WILL happen. Levy really is blind not to understand this and prepare appropriately.
I like Dav, too, especially as a back up CB.
I also did not understand why Dav would leave before Dier, but then realized it is because no one wanted Dier. At least there were multiple offers for Dav.

Worst case scenario you can turn off the TV a la the Chelsea game and walk away.

Sanchez wasn’t good enough. If we didn’t sell him when we could then we’d need to shift him or Dier now before we could bring in a quality CB,
In terms of long term planning it was the right thing to sell Sanchez. Same way we take money for PEH in January if it’s on offer.
We could’ve taken a lower offer to shift Sanchez earlier and brought a 3rd CB in the summer and we could bring a 3rd CB on Jan 1st. Those were the other options. Not selling Sanchez wasn’t an option

To a degree. We didn’t take our chances and we had plenty of them. But yes, it doesn’t help overall. Not sure it’s going to help against an in form Bournemouth either
Sanchez was the only one between him and Dier who we could shift. A quality CB’s agent can now look at our situation, and say “there’s a place for my client”. It wasn’t so obvious before.
It was about money imo. We could have signed one and sent Davinson on loan by we don’t do that kind of shit. Whether we like it or not.
We lost every game without Romero so far, those points dropped were a risk our board calculated as worth taking.
