He just doesn't need to be causing this debate around him now. Lay low for a few games.

A really aggressive challenge like that isn't needed when we're in cruise control. Would have been an absolute disaster if he'd been banned for 4 games and now he'll be watched even closer in the upcoming games.

He's an amazing player but if you are writing off 10 league games a season due to injury/a couple of red cards you have to ask is it worth it?

Obviously this is a much bigger issue due the fact we have exactly 0 depth at CB.

This is the key.

Red or not (I lean not but it’s certainly arguable), you don’t need to put yourself in those situations when you’re 3-0 up, especially when you factor in how critical he is to our defence right now in the absence of VDV.

Gotta be smarter.

watch it again. What you have described is completely wrong.

He lost his footing AFTER he committed the foul. It was definitely a stamp and there was definitely contact on ankle. Watch it again in slow motion and you will hopefully realise how wrong you are.

Hell even Dawson couldn't defend it and he is our club ambassador who defends everything spurs related usually.
Wow slow motion. I can see you ref about as well as the VARs that only show the freeze frame to the center.

It’s not a stamp at all. Romero’s making a tackle, Wilson is laying on the ground and taking up a lot of space and Romero’s foot has to land somewhere.

Contact on the ankle or higher doesn’t matter if the player is laying on the ground. There’s tackles like that all the time and none are ever red unless it’s a forceful stamp that’s away from the ball.

The only thing different about this tackle than about 50 other yellows that will happen this season is that Romero catches him with his left leg too. But it’s not a scissor tackle (see cash on doherty) it’s just a basic trip.

This needs airing occasionally. Just in case people forget what true cuntery looks like. Martinelli should be hanged for this. What a complete psychopath. Watch his feet, knows exactly what he's doing and then shrugs it off.

Honestly, this infuriates me so much.

Way way more dangerous than any tackle on legs. You can break necks and backs doing this shit.

The Isak one is even more cuntish because it comes from outside Romero's field of vision. At least Bednarek could see and prepare his body for this.

I have a theory that a couple of them aren’t run by spurs fans at all. Watch them be very eager to spread negative stories especially during the transfer window. No spurs fan behave how they do.

If I had the time and the inclination; I'd run an agg. account for all the big teams and clickbait the fuck out of all of them......... No way they're all actual fan-driven.

A lot of weird, tinfoil hat stuff in this thread now.
It’s bizarre. Let’s not be like Liverpool fans eh.

Romero was a very lucky boy yesterday. We have a huge problem with him. He’s our best defender however the last two and a bit years he’s cost us more points than any other player.

This whole slump started because he was a bellend and he very nearly did it again.

It can’t continue he either needs to grow up and stop being a dickhead or he needs to be replaced.

Some of the bollocks being touted in here today. Fuck off to Mania if you think so little of Cutti.
Balanced opinion? Yeah, chips on both shoulders

Well said!

Romero is a top defender, was sensational in first 6/7 games.

Needs the calming presence of VDV I think but those so called ‘spurs fans’ suggesting we replace him can get fucked.

Arseholes.

He does seem to see red (both literally and figuratively) but at the same time, he is fucking immense.

If he could reign it in a bit, retain his aggression, big hits without going over the line he’d still give attackers the feeling of “oh for fucks sake, we’re playing against him” without also giving them the feeling that he is a walking red card if they rile him up enough.

We can't concern ourselves with what other teams players do or don't do to us.
All we can do, is ensure we play every match with 11 men and cut out ridiculous suspensions.

Outside of fouls, I would like someone to mention how flippant referees were in the first half a dozen games with yellow cards for dissent. Maddison has 2 yellows, both for "dissent"
One was for asking a ref "what was that for" and one was because he hell to his knees in disbelief at yet another poor referee decision against Sheffield United.

Yet since those first half a dozen games, it seems to have all but stopped. Even IN that game the ref didn't book any Sheffield United players for dissent.
There's now players across the league on the edge of a suspension because of over the top refs flapping cards about because they're weak minded shitty little cunts.

I think he's a great CB just needs to smarten up sometimes doesn't need to go IN all the time but on the flip side its part of what makes him.

I bet most CF don't like coming up against him.

Isak done fuck all. Wilson did some crying post match.

Davies was good too though.

like someone else said he needs to keep head down for a few games now as refs will deffo be on his case. For example the yellow he got against Spam was a nothing challenge. He could easily have walked yesterday.

People are saying he is best when on the edge? Disagree. Look how composed he was for the first 10 games and guess what we went unbeaten and weren’t shipping goals. As soon as he went wild against Chelsea we lost our way and same goes with yesterday.

I can't honestly fathom how anyone thinks he's not a it of a problem?
It's one thing taking a card for the team. Taking a player out on the halfway line to stop the break and getting a 2nd yellow late on.
But the way he goes in sometimes isn't required and is close to a red every time he does it.
In a pre-VAR lifetime he might have got away with it more often. But now, there's no hiding from it. Has he maybe not adapted to having slow motion camera's and everything being checked?

TS sticking the boot in atm...... Pearce in particular being extremely hypocritical.

Of course they are. They are owned by Sky? or at least operate from a sky building.

It's so easy for them to get the interaction they want out of this.

The only good thing you can take from it is this what comes with being relevant. Joelinton and Isak both made much more dangerous challenges that could end careers but Romero mistiming a tackle into someone's boot os front-page news. We are massive.

But the way he goes in sometimes isn't required
but youre asking him to be someone he isnt then. some people go in hard to challenges its who they are as footballers. if you try and pussyfy him you lose him. ask him to go into 50-50s half hearted and youll get an argentine dier....ok hell still be a lot better than that useless oaf but you get the point.

arsenals forward done far worse the other day than romeros against chelsea and they tried giving Woolwich a fucking pen for it! his challenge on wilson was a bit mistimed thats all.

has romero done one genuine filthy challenge yet? ive not seen one where he hasnt genuinely gone for the ball? cash for villa a far dirtier player, romero might go in with force but that cunt goes in with force and high up legs. he looks to destroy knees.
