Nkoudou and Janssen HAVE to be bottom two. They've both been here for THREE seasons and both done absolutely fuck all but waste wages.

The likes of Yedlin, Pau Lopez, Stambouli, Fazio were all disappointing but we never made a loss of any of them. Three of which were only here for a season and the other was only ever signed as a marketing ploy.

I'd personally rank them as:

1. Dele Alli - 53 goals and 40 assists in 171 games. Cost £5,000,000
2. Toby Alderweireld - Transformed our defensive fortunes. Cost £11,500,000
3. Son Heung-Min - 61 goals and 36 assists in 170 games.
4. Eric Dier - 202 games for the club. Versatile. Cost £4,000,000
5. Ben Davies - 155 games played. Great back up for fee paid.
6. Kieran Trippier - 102 games played. Cost £3,500,000.
7. Victor Wanyama - Brilliant in his first season. Bargain at modern day prices.
8. Juan Foyth - Looks like he will become an elite player. Cost £10,000,000.
9. Davinson Sanchez - Could potentially be a huge star.
10. Moussa Sissoko - Higher based on this seasons appearances. 100+ games played.
11. Lucas Moura - Cheap in todays world of fees. Good depth.
12. Paulo Gazzaniga - Proving to be a solid number two.
13. Fernando Llorente - His stats speak for themselves. Underrated in that sense.
14. Serge Aurier - Not quite lived up to expectations.
15. Michel Vorm - Has declined over the years but usually done well when called upon.
16. Kevin Wimmer - Started off well. Incredible that we made a profit on him.
17. Federico Fazio - Actually enjoyed his and Vertonghens partnership but was too slow for what we required.
18. Benjamin Stambouli - Another one I didn't mind, but was perhaps a little slow in midfield.
19. Clinton Njie - Not really given a chance. Thought he had more about him than others have shown (Nkoudou)
20. DeAndre Yedlin - Played one game for us.
21. Pau Lopez - Played zero games for us.
22. Vincent Janssen - Three seasons. Not good enough.
23. Georges-Kevin Nkoudou - Three seasons. No where near good enough.

Based on amount of games played, value of the actual signing and perhaps how important they have been over their time with us.

10 windows, 23 signings and only 3 (Toby, Dele and Son) of them genuinely went on to improve the first team.

This is beyond poor, can't think of any top team done this worse.

Daft to claim that nobody else improved our first team. Dier, Wanyama, Sanchez, Davies and Trippier have made a big contribution to 3 successive top 3 finishes after years of us hovering around 5th place. You must rate Chiriches, Naughton and Paulinho very highly in that case.

Shall we have a look at Chelsea’s recent transfers? Drinkwater? Morata? Bakayoko? Batshuayi? Zappacosta? They spent £200m on that lot before throwing them all in the bin.

Manchester United spent £50m on Fred and he never gets onto the pitch. They bought dross like Darmian, Depay, Mkhitaryan, Rojo, Alexis, loads of crap.

City bought Mangala, Demichelis, Fernando, Negredo, Danilo, Bravo, Delph, Bony, Nolito. All their recent managers have bought some shite players.

Nobody ever said we have a perfect record on transfers, nobody does. We have a similar rate of success to others, the difference is that our flops are in the £10-15m range. Not the £40-50m range.

We really have signed a load of crap over the last few years

Quite amazing how we have managed to be as consistently good as we have

Think you're being pretty generous here,
Lucas would be a 7 for me, too inconsistent
Gazza and Foyth have done nowhere near enough to deserve a 7
Aurier is a 5 at best
Wanyama is a funny one, he's gone from a 9 to a 5 or even a 4: I'd probably give him 7

Son and Dele both 9s for me though, potentially developing into 10s

You missed Dier too, I'd give him a 7

Here's the side that played our home first leg against Benfica the year before Poch, essentially our last hurrah at a trophy that season (We lost 3-1 and Sherwood played a weak side for the return leg...for some reason)

Kane, Lloris, Vertonghen, and Eriksen remain in our team.

Toby, Dele and Son are massive upgrades over Kaboul, Lennon and Adebayor, as you said. (Sanchez deserves a shout in this group as well)

Trippier and Aurier are collectively nowhere near Walker, fair.

But you're trying to tell me that Davies, Dier, Wanyama and Sissoko in some combination are not a massive improvement over Sandro, Paulinho and Naughton?

I strenuously disagree.

Great signings: Alderweireld, Son, Dele, Dier
Good signings: Wanyama, Trippier, Davies, Sissoko, Foyth, Sanchez, Gazzaniga
Mediocre signings: Lucas, Wimmer, Aurier, Vorm
Bad signings: Stambouli, Fazio, Yedlin, Nkoudou, Njie, Janssen, Llorente

Occasional flops are inevitable when you are shopping for deals like we are, but we've got an incredible return on investment from cheap signings like Dele, Dier, Trippier, Davies and Wanyama.

The Wanyama goal was in the middle of a second half performance that if we matched in every game between now and the end of the season would win us the league.

It was a truly exceptional 45 minutes and had Klopp shaking his head in disbelief.

Kane's saving penalty to win us a point was the least we deserved.

Alli and Alderweireld top for me. Son this season, but cost comes into it, so Alli.

Forgot Dier, he's borderline 6-7 imo.
Gazza has done enough for me to be considered 7 and Foyth maybe in 2 years time.
Wanyama is weird one, after the first season he was 8, now is somewhere between 4-5.
Agree with Dele and Son too.

Agree with a lot of this.

Wimmer is frustrating. We should never have let Milos go, hate it when we lose guys like that from the Academy. Wimmer basically took the place that could have been his, yes?

Had a feeling this thread would die a death when I saw it pop up (couldn’t reply as I was binned)

It’s almost as if to reply and discuss would mean you have to admit that Poch has had 23 players signed in his ten windows here.
That’s an average of more than 2 signings per window.

Doesn’t fit well with a lot of peoples views that the manager hasn’t been backed, especially when you look at some of our rivals signings in that time and what they paid for them.
But hey, at least they overspent on crap and finished below us so that must be ambitious.

Also worth noting that we use our academy where as other teams let their homegrown talent walk out the door.

Top signing has been Dele, Son and Toby. Game changers.

Still can't believe we signed Dele for only £5,000,000.:allitongue:

Del Boy, Sonny & Toby top class signings. I think Davies & Trippier have been underrated signings as well for the price both cost. International players, one was £3.5m and the other what £10m or something like that?

Special mention for Dier as well. I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea but versatile, seems like a good foot solider, has been pretty much an ever present as we've taken the step up from top 5-7 into top 2-3 and cost £5m. Such a shame he isn't HG
