I don't think there is any coincidence between Luis Enrique setting up Spain without a prolific number 9, our interest in him and Kane having one last chance for the club to get a fee.

Ha Ha Smile GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

So he would play a false 9 instead you say.......?

Luis could be the right fit if he is allowed to build a team that suits his vision. But if he is just brought in to appease our star player than that is not a good fit.

The tweet that's got people talking primarily spoke of attacking football and promotion of youth; not Kane.

Think Enrique is probably a pretty good coach, and like any appointment would need to be fully invested in the job and backed by the club for it to be a success. Our squad isn't really in the best shape for him, but it's not a complete disaster either. Personally would be happy with any of De Zerbi, Enrique, Poch if they and the club can commit to at least intending to make a 3/4 year go of it.

He wasn’t at Mainz 05 in the early days, Arteta wasn’t and now might win the league, Poch wasn’t at Saints and transformed us.
Klopp had 300 appearances for Mainz and they were in the German second division 20 years ago. Logically, we should give it to Mason as he has the youth and club links.

Mason hasn’t managed other than a few games, it’s not like he worked under Pep and is now making Burnley or Southampton play great football and showing real potential. If Mason wants a big job he can go and get a job in the Championship and kill it then he can enter the conversation.

Yep, same here we should also be looking at the future of managers not the past as well. We need the next Klopp or Pep.
I’m starting to think it doesn’t even matter , Klopp would have failed here so would pep , just get someone on who will play attractive football so at least we can enjoy watching us play again , even if we win fuck all!

Well exactly. Style of football at this point is more important to me, Kompany is getting Burnley playing like mint, Gallardo has a rep of great attacking pressing football, we know what Poch can do.

I could live with any of them as you would at least be entertained. Poch and Gallardo also have shown to be able to be at a club for 4+ years so we know they can work development.

Does anyone remember when Mike Ashley got Joe Kinnear to rock up at Newcastle for a few months? Genuinely the most mental managerial appointment I can remember.

Not sure why this thread reminds me of that.

Probably because someone totally unsuitable will end up in the hot seat like Simone after we have been crying for better football and will end up in a sacking by next season.

This is Arteta's first managerial job.

Yeh he had his YTS under Pep, but Mason has had his under another so-called top manager, has managed at youth level and has actually had a taste of the seniors hot-seat before.

......Not that this is a vote to give him the job.

Heard were after Marco Silva. Ludicrous if we get him. He couldn't run a bath at everton. Fulham is right club for him. Losing a few games it's no big deal but at Tottenham it is. Poch or tuchel for me.

serious concerns about having the players to fit this kind of system, but parts of me misses the back 4!

Can Porro/Udogie/Spence handle playing in a back 4?

We're going to need a big time investment in a LCB because we obviously don't have that player on our current squad.

How good can a midfield 3 of Bentancur/Bissouma/Skipp be?

I dunno, seems like we'd yet another course change for a manager...
