For so many years we’ve seen the club waste time trying to chase the impossible targets and be left with egg on its face scrambling around at the last minute for whatever it could get.
If we’ve already seen that the top options just aren’t doable so are moving to secure an option with mitigate risk that improves our squad, even if not necessarily our first team, then that’s a good thing in my opinion. Worst case scenario, we’re not castrates by an injury to Ben Davies. Best case, Lenglet rediscovered his early career form, usurps Davies and improved the LCB spot at first team level, so we make the loan permanent. There really is no downside.
At his best the guy had a lot of Vertonghen about him. Why it’s gone so south at Barca? No idea but look at the guys we got from Juve to remember how big an impact the environment of the club can have.
Hopefully it also means money is freed up to look at upgrading a part of the pitch seemingly more achievable than LCB seems to be.

In 2022 we outscored everyone. The idea we're crying out for a midfield maestro to pull the strings is ignoring the way the team actually plays. Most of our attacks start either on the wings or from 1 of the front 3 dropping deep. We just need the 2 CM to be defensively capable and able to carry the ball out with competence.

Se ha hablado con muchos clubes y, finalmente, Roma y Tottenham mostraron interés. El primero se retiró de la puja por el salario del central y el segundo no esperará eternamente a que Lenglet decida si desea formar parte de su proyecto o no.
El central francés debe decidir esta misma semana y en el Barça esperan que acabe dando el OK a un Tottenham que jugará Champions y en el que sería pieza fundamental de su eje defensivo. Mejor opción no va a tener de aquí a final de mercado.
La salida de Lenglet es clave porque el Barça se ahorraría una ficha que supera los 10 millones de euros a coste de club y liberaría una plaza de central. Faltaría que Mingueza y Umtiti encontraran acomodo para cumplir el objetivo y así firmar a un defensor de primer nivel que complete la zaga, tal y como desea Xavi.
