Playing Dier as a midfielder was the beginning of Poch's problems and the demise of our midfield. He's ponderous, can't press because he's too cumbersome and gets turned too easily, doesn't want the ball under pressure, doesn't want the ball off the defenders when we are getting pressed and trying to play out and can't move with the ball or pass it under pressure.

Maybe sometimes, but he also can marshal a defence and is committed to the team.
Much more reliable to do that role than Sissoko or any others we have right now.
I want him moved to CB of course, but that may not ever happen.

No it wasn't. Dier began at DM in Poch's 2nd year, the Leicester year. Persisting with the experiment beyond the next year when we had Wanyama instead of bringing in another proper MFer is what coincided with the stagnation.
