If we are set to keep using the diamond formation that Poch seems to enjoy now maybe having more defensive minded fullbacks is not that bad of an idea. Let them sneak just above the halfway line.

Without overlapping wingers ready to fall back we would leave our flanks very open otherwise.
Were you happy with the F.B's against Juve?

If playing football was his priority he could still play at a top level, but he'd need to compromise on wages. If he ends up in China it's because he's prioritizing money.
That's pretty sad for someone with that gift. As Cranston says, he's already got more money than he can spend in a lifetime.

We'll wait and see, could be all garbage but if he does go to China he will have gone down in my estimation. Don't blame him from a financial point of view but it's a move I thought he'd make in about 3-5 years time.

I certainly had no problems with their defensive performance outside of them getting caught out of position by pushing too far up field at times.

Call me old school but in my mind a defenders main priority should be defending over contributing to the attack.

He hasn't learnt Spanish, so will have his work cut out with Chinese/ Mandarin! Seriously it's such a waste of talent. For all he's won his at least season at us will be his best ever in terms of impact and performance.

First bit is supposition on your part and the second bit is history....we are living in the factual present....he would be a huge risk and I'd far rather us get a top class RB for £50m and see the team formation perfectly balanced and challenging for the title.

I fully appreciate the sentiment behind this 'Bring back Bale' idealism but it would be a huge gamble and an unnecessary one. You and many others may want him but the team doesn't need him. Let it go ...he's no longer the player you think he is. If he is that good how come clubs haven't been grabbing Zidane's hand off ??

Everyone knew he was available as soon as ZZ returned to RM so why no offers ? Apart from his current wage structure which RM would help out with if it meant getting him off their books, he obviously is no longer on anyone's shopping list.

I am not trying to tarnish the guy's record, it speaks for itself and nobody appreciates his contribution to this club more than me but that's the past.....we move on and upwards
:coys:
Completely disagree first of all i think he may not be the player he once was but is still better then anything we have to offer.
2nd i think he is the sort of gamble we need because without a player like bale its another season without a trophy.
The rb situation does not bother me i think foyth or kwp will come good its a player that can win a game that i feel we need a player that scares teams and bale fits that bill
Its a gamble i agree but its a gamble i feel we need

Okay, as we are all agreed our defence needs serious attention here's a quiz on that very subject as transfer news begins to go quiet overnight.....enjoy
Let's not divert the thread too much but next time you post on here put your score up (be honest !)

A pathetic 12 for me I'm afraid.

Does the bold wording imply you think he's better than Kane ?? 😳
I'll gracefully bow out of this discussion. We don't need Bale to win a trophy next season and we certainly don't want to to 'gamble' with millions of pounds on someone that once served this club exceptionally well and is enshrined in it's past but should not now be considered to be a part of it's future.

We shall agree to disagree because both of us are obviously resolute in our opinions.

Spurs are becoming a HUGE club.

Not because of the new gorgeous stadium
Not because of the state of the art training facilities.
Not because we reached the Champ league final
Not because we smashed our transfer record in early July

No. It’s because Spurs ITK are sprouting up like weeds.

Everywhere you look there’s a different Spurs ITK. And they always fight with each other

Of course he is better then kane by alot I'm not having a go here btw it does just seem that we disagree. But i will predict that without a superstar like bale it will be exactly the same outcome next season maybe 3rd instead of 4th

We have no common ground at all I'm afraid....not after a statement like that.

Edit
I have to admit I am absolutely staggered by that statement of yours about Kane 😳
