Woolwich have been keeping tabs on the striker for months, but Tottenham are the ones who have taken proactive steps towards signing Janssen and held talks with the player’s representatives earlier this week in London.

However, some in the Netherlands have advised Janssen to think twice before moving to a cut-throat environment such as the Premier League, where the competition for places at the top clubs is fierce.

But Kieft feels otherwise and believes Janssen should definitely join Tottenham if he gets the opportunity, as he can only improve himself by playing and training with better footballers week-in-week-out.

The Dutchman told De Telegraaf: “If Janssen has to choose between Ajax and Tottenham, he must go to London.

“Yes there is Harry Kane. What could be better to try without any pressure as number 12 or 13 to make the great Kane nervous?

“Regardless of the adventure and the financial gains, Janssen can only get better by training with better players every day.”

Janssen joined AZ Alkmaar last summer and has a contract until 2019 with the club.

I love the Dutch language. Just speak English with a 'shilly' accent and you sound like a local: they really have a newspaper called De Telegraaf

Love how he calls him the "great" Kane.

Just as a point of reference and to help a fella out, the difference between Clinton and Batshuayi is that Batshuayi is an out and out CF, whereas Clinton also plays wide. Is that right?

The difference is Batshuayi doesn't play for us yet so he's more betters.

Watching that video shows this guy has it all, sharpness, comfortable using both feet, brave, good heading ability, strength, speed, the whole lot.

I would be gutted if this falls through now. Imagine Woolwich's centre halves trying to deal with him and Kane while Dele runs amok behind them.

We playin 4-4-2 diamond in that dream?
Lloris-Walker,Alder,Verts,Rose-Dier-Dembele,Bentaleb(?)-Alli-Kane,Janssen?

Could work. Where would that leave Eriksen and Lamela?

I think it's a lovely thought, but I see your point. Though I feel the option of someone other than Kane up front is essential. In fact as mentioned earlier this looks like the second coming of Kane. Now one is a handful, two would be awesome. But yeah, who do you drop to accommodate them, that is the problem.

The other this is, we know at some stage Harry is going to miss games, either injured or suspended. Do we have a plan B that involves someone simply stepping into Harry's place? Likewise Dembele, Dier or Alli's places?
