we need to get him a specialist striking coach & a sprinting coach, for me he does not move/faint inside the box, both of these things can be improved both you need a specialist in that field,

He persisted with Rose.

He also persisted with Son and Lamela.

Yes Janssen was woeful, but he needs some form of competitive football to get up to speed, not just a few minutes here and there. Unfortunately for him we are in the title race and our first 11 are playing so well there isn't much opportunity for him at the moment.

Sometimes players are late bloomers. Or they need a loan spell to blossom into a good player, have the weaknesses ironed out of them.

He's not even a late blommer, he's younger than Kane at 22 years old. How many top strikers are there that age? Not including Kane who has been phenomenal.

Can he go out on an emergency loan or something like that ? He needs playing time badly as at the moment i cant for the world see a decent player in there, he seems to lack composure, pace, skills and killer instinct

There are loads: Kane, Dybala, Lukaku, Martial, Icardi, Berardi, Rashford, Dembele (either one). Sure there are more

Still not loads though is it? Dembele the Celtic one is playing in Scotland. Apologies what I meant was in the Premier League which is clearly a different beast to other leagues. Bearing in mind Janssen scored 27 in the Eridivisie last season.

Put a Berardi or Icardi in our side will they adapt quicker than someone who only gets minutes here and there?

I'm not a Janssen apologist, and he has looked out of his depth recently. However I am prepared to give him time. Luckily we have other players performing to a high standard and getting the goals.

The truth is there are not many fantastic strikers in the premier league period. If we go by that criteria then we are only looking at around 5-10 players of any age. I am not a Janssen-phobe. Yes I think he could do a job one day. The premier league is just a bit too quick for him at the moment. It is not like he was not given a chance. He clearly has something though as his goals for NL prove.
On the Dembele point. I am utterly mythed as to why we did not sign him. My Fulham friends were raving about him. I am utterly convinced he would be just fine in the premier league.

We know exactly what we are getting with him. He's not technically gifted, or even physically, his main attributes are his link up play, he is amazing with his back to goal (just the added physicality that he needs to adapt to), that he never gives up and he had a nack of being in the right place at the right time last year.

For us he has shown all of these things in the time he gets on the pitch, he can't buy a goal at the moment though. If he had 5 goals in all competitions everyone would be a lot more optimistic. Credit the fan base though we seem to fall in love with these strikers who show so much potential but Kanes no 2 spots seems to be cursed.

2 Top strikers in there respected leagues come to the lane back to back and they both flop. Spursy much?

We have only just started to perfect 3 at the back, but last night showed that Davies and Trippier dont suit it. Doesnt mean they are wrong signings.....they were perfect when we reverted to our usual set up.

Janssen has been here for HALF a season. Lamela took TWO seasons to even look like a footballer.

As we grow, we will learn new formations and find the best set ups between the players.
Janssen has a place in that somewhere, or least he deserves a shot at turning it around.

We all want a top striker to come and sit on our bench. Who though?

There is talk of Lallana again.....will he leave Liverpools first team to be a sub here? Forget it.
The good thing about Vinny, is that he´s back up, so he should get the time to imrpove. There actually isnt a desperate need to get rid of him yet, but there is a need for him to get game time.

I actually think he has been alright so far. Nothing amazing, but then I wasn't expecting amazing. With the exception of Wanyama (who he has worked with before) and possibly Alli, Poch likes to ease new players players into the team, especially those from different leagues. Janssen was thrust into the limelight from day one as Kane was injured. That carried an additional amount of stress no doubt as all eyes were on him replacing the most prolific striker in the League.

I was disappointed in his performance last night. Mainly because he didn't put himself about which is the single biggest attribute to his game that I have seen to date that I really like. I genuinely couldn't give two fucks if he never scores a single goal for us, so long as his presence on the pitch is creating space for others, or he is causing CB's head aches. I'll say exactly the same for Kane. (Kane got stick from some against Chelsea because he wasn't on the ball much, but his runs created space. Kane's contribution was far, far greater than some gave credit for. On the same note Costa too, his running was fantastic, it's just he was up against better CB's and had a poor Pedro behind him, we had Alli and Eriksen).

Poch made a good point regarding Janssen sayinf something about its true he struggled, but so did both Kane and Costa the other night...

Asked if his striker had struggled, Pochettino said: “It is true but look again at the game we played against Chelsea. Both the strikers struggled in the first half, Diego Costa and Harry Kane.

“In the second half today he started to find better space to play but we decided to put Alli on.

“It was tough but not only for him. He needs to work hard and not be frustrated.”
