Would it be fair to say (at a guess), that a lot of fans fall for the history and culture of a football club, which US clubs just don't have?
When you look at MK Dons and Hoffenheim, clubs that you could say were "manufactured" in the eyes of fans in England and Germany, they get looked down on by most people.
Still, if someone who was living close enough to get to live games was choosing never to do that, and only ever watched football on TV, I'd say they were missing out.
