u18 results very much a case of there being a big difference between Academy Year 1 lads and Academy Year 2 - for those in Year 1 its their first year of full time training and at that age kids are rapidly developing attributes such a strength, so for these kids of reasons big difference between the 2 year groups.

These are our Year 2 lads :

2 GK's - Maguire (E youth and Irish youth international) and Hayton (has trained with first team, but first year Gunter may be as good or better.

3 players, Turner, Haysman and Casanova likely to be released in June 2022.

Scarlett (trains with first team and plays u23's), Devine (ditto)

Hackett, Davies - both good players but not seen in a while. Injured ?

Mathurin - excellent player but out for rest of season

So that leaves Sayers and Torraj out of 2nd Year Academy lads who were in the squad today - 2 players whereas most opposition will typically have 5 - 8 second year players involved. Big difference.

Consolation will be next year when the current first years become 2nd years - and the current u16's who seem to win every week join as the new first years.
Yeah saw a bit of the wolves cup game and alot of the wolves team was way bigger than ours.

Summary of younger players on Loan :

Alfie Whiteman (GK) - Degefors (Sweden top tier) - season loan until November (currently pre-season)

Kacper Kurlowicz (GK) - Potters Bar FC (Non league)

Nil John (CM) - Charlton Athletic (League 1)

Jack Clarke (winger) - Sunderland (League 1)

Troy Parrott (striker) - MK Dons (League 1)

Kion Etete (striker) - Cheltenham Town (League 1)

Young Players bought for the first team on loan are Pape Matar Sarr (Metz) and Bryan Gil (Valencia).

I'm still puzzled by the recall from loan of Jamie Bowden (Oldham) who has not gone back on loan despite doing well at Oldham, unless he fell foul of a rule that he couldn't play for 3 clubs in a season. Same problem could have meant J'Neil Bennett (Crewe) couldn't go back out on loan.

Overall not enough of the u21's are out on loan to aid their development.

Parrott, Scarlett and Etete...I've got a feeling in my water all these kids are gonna make it in the EPL.

That would be sensational - and you could probably add Jamie Donley (do 3/1/2005) to that list as well.

But just getting one or even two playing in PL would be huge, and given the way that Etete in particular, but also Parrott is shaping up on loans (and thus closer to an end goal of playing in PL) its not impossible even if it is maybe 18 months away, that might happen.

And great timing given Kane a Son's age to at least get a player good enough to join to join the first team squad

Parrott assist @ 1.24

If Connor Wickham had a brain. Troy would have had a goal. Wickham was through in the last part of the highlights with Troy unmarked in middle of goal. Wickham decided to shoot wide instead of squaring to Troy.
Troy is definitely looking a better player the longer the loan goes. Originally he was looked at as a goal scorer but he is more than that. Every chance of being in the play offs so we can see him then. Promotion for MK would be ideal and he could stay there in the Championship.

Troy is looking more like a no 10 or 2nd striker atm.

Not sure he's scored since September but he's kept up the assists, which maybe because he's not been played as the main striker. At age 20 he could suddenly resume or refine his goalscoring abilities, but even if not he could still be a very good forward .

I hear Alfie Devine is getting close to the first team. he's gonna be a goodun.
Fagan-Walcott might get a game this season as well.
