It would be one thing to be physically slow if your decision making and timing was fast.

It is basically a death sentence to be both mentally and physically slow as a winger.

He is physically slower because he is mentally slow.

If you watch him really sprint he is not really slow. Wingers need to time their runs and moves correctly and make little moves to put the defenders off balance. Mahrez wasn’t really that fast but he was a great winger.

He just needs to be sharper and quicker mentally.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to train a slow brain to get faster.

We need to keep him for, at least a season, until Bergvall has been settled in. The young lad would likely prefer an older ‘ brother’ around him, to gel faster.

In this system will only be effective as a 9 (like when he played against Luton) and as a 10. Not suited to the wing in this system in which case we need to either A. Sell; or B. Sell Gio, and convert Kulu to the backup 10.

....Or C) Sell both and use the proceeds to buy someone who can both play AND stay fit.

Very much sell both.

Shame about Kulu as he started so well but his one trick of cutting indide has been well and truly rumbled. It always felt 50/50 if it was the right decision to sign him.permanently but looking like the wrong move now.

We're not a serious club if we hang on to Lo Celso, would mean a new contract as only has 12 months left.

How many times does this need explaining. We don’t play with a 10, we play with two 8’s. And even if we did play with a 10, Kulusevski has nowhere near the skill set to play it at this level in this league. And we saw what happened when he was played in Maddison’s role v Chelsea - he was terrible and barely touched the ball for 45 minutes, because he can’t play with that kind of 360 degree pressure. He also lacks vision.

Give it it up. He’s a dead fucking parrot.

Have you got one of those average position map thingys?

............Cos despite what the Ange-ball experts promised (and what I'd like to see) it hasn't felt like we do since the early months of the season.

It’s actually embarrassing that we’re at the point where people have suggested he play Rw, Lw, 10, 8, 6 and even as a fucking 9 before accepting he is just a very mediocre footballer with an incredibly limited skill set who aside from a good season at Parma and a few months here has spent the rest of his career being underwhelming.

Actually getting annoying how stubborn people are on him now. It was amusing before but fuuuuucking hell, give it up.

It’s clear we play with a single pivot (Bissouma) with Sarr the R8 and Maddison the L8, Maddison takes more license as he’s the more “creative”

He really does struggle without a FB drawing defenders away.... Numerous times today Porro & Skip just stopped so as to maintain the inside right/left position (as coached) when Kulu would have benefited from a decoy run or the additional outlet to pass to.
He's definitely not made for this system. This system needs outside wingers with their natural foot and movement towards the sidelines/corner flag in order to provide space for the underlapping fullbacks. They need to be quick and fast as running around your opponent wide is a longer distance to the goal than when cutting inside.

Kulu is a player that wants to cut inside with overlapping fullback on the outside. He doesn't have the raw speed to play wide left winger either.

In the last match he did showcase decent strength a couple times to hold off fullbacks/midfielders challenging him when out right, but obviously doesn't have the speed to capitalize going outside. Out left he hit 1 or 2 decent balls into the box, but without any aerial targets, all such balls are basically useless losses of possession in this system.

I think he'll play much better in a system with overlapping fullbacks and a proper ST that is an aerial target. At this point, that obviously is not going to be this system with Ange at the helm.

With people being seemingly desperate to hold on to Son as a ST, and Levy being tightfisted with transfers, I do actually wonder if Ange will get the personnel he needs to implement his very specific system. There is a lot of business to be done this summer, and I've never actually seen a Tottenham transfer window in which we've done all the business we've needed to.
