Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

18 year old CB, probably about 6' 2'', excellent defender very comfortable with the ball - good example being in the u18 Premier League up final (4 mins 25 secs in video below) carrying the ball from inside Spurs area almost to the edge of opposition box, maybe 60 yards. Total composure in the pressure of a cup final, very impressive. An asset both in defence and attack.

I think he still needs to grow into a more adult body, but otherwise he's ready to move from youth football to First team football, possibly on loan before Spurs first team.

It's funny, highlight packages these days for CB's seems to be whether they can pass the ball and how good they are on the ball, the question is can he defend?

Yeah I was thinking the same.
Is he good in the air ?
It's an area we have been weak in for years and still are.
Yeah very solid defensively too. He's quite tall so generally wins a lot of headers but also good at tackling and very good at making blocks. Not surprised a lot of people mention the technical side first because he's excellent on the ball and loves a surging run forward. Also his passing is very good; not seen it as much at u21s level yet but in the u18s last season he was playing some lovely alderweireld-esque long balls forward. Both he and Donley have been playing above their age-group pretty much all the way through the academy so good to see them both now playing u21s together.

The highlights packages are great, for those who’ve seen him in more depth, how close do they think he is to being a first teamer?

Would be really nice if he and Phillips are close to first team with Dier and Sánchez finally close to fucking off. Any money we can save on a CB, can go straight towards a hopefully world class attacking player next summer.
Not really seen Phillips enough to judge him but would assume he's slightly ahead of Dorrington in terms of physicality having already played in the championship and been training with Blackburn's first team squad last season. Dorrington was still playing u18s mostly last season so this will be his first full season in u21s. Probably will need a loan after that because there's a massive difference between u21s football and mens football. The pecking order obviously depends on Diers situation but if he's not involved and Phillips is considered 4th choice then Dorrington is probably not far behind, 5th or maybe 6th if Davies covers left CB. Huge potential but patience needed. Think he'll play the whole season with u21s then hopefully get a loan next season. Phillips more likely to stay around so he can become club-trained.

You'll never know how good a player is watching them at that level. It's when they take the step into first senior football that you know.
I would like us (club coaches) to identify the better ones in their age groups sooner and maybe send them out on loan more at 18 or so. Let's see them properly. If they hold up, bring them back in and coach them here.
We seem to do it arse about face, keep them around until they're about 21 then give them a few games and find out they need experience and struggle to loan them. our youth players all seem to end up 21-23 years old and neither here nor there.

Feels like a lack of strategy to me.
