If we get say Poch there is the issue that our wing backs may not be as effective as full backs and if we ever do get 2-3 more CB’s of quality if we move to a back 4 it’s less urgent but we then need a lot more AM’s.

The club is too reactionary, we fly from Redknapp to AVB then Sherwood to Poch. Managers with drastically different approaches and player requirements. This adds additional rebuild issues to a club known for being slow to get the right players.

All I want from Levy is for him to step back properly and get a DOF with a clear football vision (not sure that is Paratici, he is great at spotting a player though!) and let him implement a vision of scouting/manager/transfers. Other clubs from Woolwich to Brighton to City across the spectrum have mostly gone down this route which has over a longer period maximised their potential. Our model looks outdated.

If Conte leaves and Paratici can’t work anymore I’d love us to grab a DoF like Rangnick and have him employ a young up and coming manager like Kompany for a 5 year plan and build a stylish young team to eventually peak and challenge for honours and all of that is completely possible.

I actually think the squad is shaping up well for Poch funnily enough - as i said previously Porro can play RB and did exclusively prior to joining Sporting (check his thread there's a post with a link to a Portuguese journo who was talking about it) A young left sided wingback like Udogie should be moldable to play an attacking full back role, afterall that was essentially the plan for Sess with Poch, wasn't it? If not we need a new Left Back - i think we're in for 2 CBs come the summer, one or both will be reasonably young and this will give us 3 (along with Romero) competing for 2 positions, not an issue and actually a sign of good depth- we wpuld need to sell an extra one of the old guard though in this scenario I'd have thought. Our pool of CMs match up well wuth what Poch would want, Bissouma & Sarr especially imv. Kulu/Kane would be options currently at AM but yeah we'd likely need to invest here (Maddisonon??)

So yeah a LB & an AM to be signed as i see it as worst case scenario (assuming 2 x CBs & GK come in already)

Thanks for clarifying that. So we actually spent less than Bournmouth on improving the team this January. New stadium 🏟 really is the game changer

I mean yeah in this one solitary window Bournemouth parted with more money than us due to our signings being loans with view to buys as opposed full transfers. The players are here and in the squad though, so unless you get your kicks from lookimg at a balance sheet I'm not sure why you think this point has any merit.

Why would Poch have to play a back 4?

Surely a good coach can adjust their system to play with a formation best suited to the players in the squad instead of square-pegging high-level, specialist wing backs into full backs?

According to google 170m euros (once you've subtracted the jan window loan fees) works out to £150m Fwiw

Still short of the 200 suggested though
My guess is that they are also factoring in sign on bonuses for the free transfers. Perisic and Forster most likely picked up some decent bonuses.

Poch used Walker and Rose as proto-wingbacks. Dier dropped into the backline and that allowed those two to move up the field.

I don't see how having Porro and Udogie would be dealbreakers for him.

Yes, it filters through. A sort of disgruntled contempt.

It genuinely reads like a post from one of our daily ENIC in/out arguments.
It was probably written by a member of the fighting cock

Really shitty tone across their answers. I wasn’t expecting anything from this, but it just clarifies how out of touch this board is. Yes, they are spending money, but that means fuck all when you have no strategy to build a team with a defined style of play.
