Good in depth review of the players.

Be interesting to see how many survive the 'cull' from the Retained List (out in about a week ?) and get offered contract extensions as next year they will be joined by about half a dozen of the Academy Year 2

Pretty sure it is at the end of the month, though others have suggested that it may be later.

Academy in Terborg Tournament this weekend 24 May 2018 - News - tottenhamhotspur.com

Friday 25 May
FC Midtjylland v Spurs (5pm)

Saturday 26 May
Spurs v SC Heerenveen (12pm)
Spurs v Atletico Paranaense (4pm)

Our travelling squad includes: De Bie (GK), Oluwayemi (GK), Brown, Duncan, Griffiths, Hinds, Lyons-Foster, P Maghoma, Marsh, Parrott, Patterson, Roles, S Shashoua, Skipp, Sterling, Tainio, Thorpe, Tracey.

Wide variation in age in the squad, with strikers including Sterling 1998 born and Parrott 2002 born, difficult to see what Sterling will gain from this age group any longer.

One or two surprises such as Tracey who I suspect may be released next week (technically contracts run to 30 June), again old for the tournament whose place might be better to a youngster.

But good luck to the lads anyway !

Surprised Edwards and Bowden weren't included in squad.

#thfc Congratulations to academy graduate, Milos Veljkovic on being selected in Serbia’s

final WC squad. The young defender left us to join Werder Bremen for £500k after refusing to sign a new deal.pic.twitter.com/NxqO9TnOVo

Shame Spurs couldn't find a way to keep him - signed Wimmer who had more first team experience a the time for circa £4m (sold for £15m) - Milos Velkjovic needed more game time instead. We sold him for circa £300k versus the £25 - 35m or so (and as a home grown talent maybe more) and he is now worth. Definitely one who got away

GK's - De Bie (2000), Oluwayemi (2001)

Defenders - Hinds (2000), Tainio (2001), Lyons-Foster (2000), Brown (1999)

Midfielders -
Skipp (2000), Marsh (1998), Duncan (1999), Roles (1999), Maghoma (Paris) (2001)

Attacking Midfielders -
Tracey (1998), Thorpe (2000), Shashoua (Sam) (1999), Patterson (2000)

Strikers - Sterling (1998), Griffiths (2000) , Parrott (2002)

That's the squad with year of birth after their names. IMO Edwards should be too old for this group and not learn much from it - but the same argument would be true for the likes of Sterling and Tracey, Marsh et al. But I think the reason why the older players are there is that they have a certain amount of physical size (which Edwards does not) so if the opposition is heavily made up of 19 year olds with only a few younger, we have some of the older ones to counter that whilst we trust the younger players to use their skills to overcome any lack of physical size.

I think Bowden would be better in the squad than Marsh (who has age but I think Bowden is the better long term prospect), so can only assume Bowden is either not available or they want to have an older player in the squad.

Bowden IMO is on par with the likes of Skipp and TOB, he has a touch of Pirlo about him!

Ray Lo‏ @RayLo18
Spurs beat Heerenveen 1-0 in their second game thanks to Troy Parrott. Griffiths had a penalty saved minutes before. Spurs last group game against Athletics Paranaese will decide who finishes second.

Spurs lost the first game 1-0 against what looked to be one of the weakest sides in the group, so need to get a result against Athletics Paranaese, perhaps the strongest side in the group @ 5 pm today (local time)

Excellent review of a lot of young players. We certainly seem to have a very decent u18 squad atm

If you were to pick your top 10 players from the u18's who would you include - based upon a blend of performance this season and potential to be a top player - and who would you put as the next few best ? :

1 Jon de Bie
2 Brooklyn Lyons-Foster
3 Jamie Reynolds
4 Jamie Bowden
5 Armando Shashoua
6 Dilan Markanday
7 J'Neil Bennett
8 Reo Griffiths
9. Troy Parrott
10 Rodel Richards

The next best - Elliott Thorpe (didn't play too many games, but on reputation ?), Paris Maghoma (seemed to start the season excellently but seemed to fall away ?), Rayan Clark, Phoenix Patterson.......

No Dennis Cirkin? Anyway, I look forward to watching these guys next season.

Dennis Cirkin is a Spurs u16 but played for Spurs u17 in ALKASS International Cup in Jan 2018 - we expect to see him next season playing for Spurs u18's when he'll be a full time member of Spurs Academy.

Looks like Dinzeyi has gone up a lot in your estimation, 6 months ago some would have said that he might not make it with Lyons-Foster, TJ Eyoma and Tanganga to compete with despite Poch taking him on a non playing trip to last season's pre season matches, But will be good to have 4 good candidates as a top CB prospect going forward with the likes of Binks and Walcott coming through too

Paris Maghoma looked great at the start of the season but seemed to reduce in influence as the season went on.......hope we get the Maghoma starting next season that started this season.

Lots of good players coming through though, just hope Poch can bring a couple or more through...

That reminds me, Dinzeyi was training with the England U19's in Spain the other day alongside the likes of Foden, Bennetts and Austin.
